Matthew 24:1-14; Verses 42-44

1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come…. 42. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

When you look around you can see and hear about what’s going on in the world, and in our communities, and we see and hear about the changes in the weather in different places… this let’s us know that everything that Jesus has said to us about His return is lining up with His word of truth. He is coming back again, and the question to you is… will you be ready when Jesus comes? Or are you speaking empty words when you say, you are ready? And if you’re not ready, don’t you think its due time that you get your house in order and get ready? For we are told that no man, not even the angels, nor Jesus Himself knows the day, the time, nor the hour when He will return, only God… and when God tells Him to go get His people, if you’re not ready to return with Him to glory, it will be too late to even think about getting ready.

In Matthew 24, Jesus gives out the warnings, and signs to look out for:
1. Many will be deceived, this include Christian believers who are lacking in their Christian commitment.
2. There will be many false Messiahs who will come and declare that they are the Christ.
3. There will be wars and rumors of wars.
4. There will be turmoil among the nations of the earth, kingdoms against
kingdoms.
6. There will be famines, and pestilences, earthquakes in different places.
7. The true people of God will be persecuted for their faith and beliefs, Christians believers will be killed, and hated by other nations and those who do not believe in our Lord.
8. The false prophets will be deceiving the people with false teachings and doctrines, as some are doing now.
9. The Love of many will grow cold, and people will become lovers of themselves.
10. Many people will have no regards for the law, and will be committing all kinds of crimes and sins.

Jesus’ coming is serious and I want to be ready when He comes. And Jesus challenges us to watch and pray, be on the look out for His return, be prepared, and prepare His way for His return. We are exhorted to continue in steadfast prayer daily, repenting of our sins, and giving God the praise and honor due His holy name…. We are to pray with confidence as Christian believers one for another, for our spiritual leaders and all local, state and federal government leaders…. We are to pray for the lost who are in bondage and can’t seem to find a way out… We are to minister the gospel of God’s grace and love to those who are oppressed by the devil… We are to “Occupy”, which means to do kingdom come business until Jesus returns for His church…. We are to proclaim His Word of the free gift of salvation to every man, women, boy, and girl as we have been commanded to Go do to a dying sinful lost world!

IF YOU WANT TO BE READY WHEN JESUS COMES… You need to be on your job, and as Christian believers our job and duty is to GO!… and be witnesses of Jesus Christ, and help others to also be ready… witnessing from the Southside to the Northside… from the Eastside to the Westside!
You GO!… and compel others to come to Christ!
You GO!… and tell people in your world, in your neighborhood, on your job, in your home that Jesus saves!
You GO!… and tell people that Jesus loves them, but He loves them too much to let them remain the way they are, and they have need to get ready, because Jesus is coming!
You GO! … and tell people there is eternal life after death for those who are in Christ Jesus!
You GO!… and tell the people on the street corners, in the shelters, in nursing homes, in hospitals, in prison houses, and Yes, in your church, everywhere!… GO, tell them that Jesus is coming back soon and very soon, and they had better GET READY!!
YOU GO!… AND YOU BE READY WHEN JESUS COMES!

  1. He will come like Thief in the night, Evangelist ET.

What will people be doing when He arrives? Some will be shooting up drugs, destroying their body temple that He has loaded to us. Some will be engage in murder.

My hope is that most will be saved and doing something positive. It’s a personal thing. We must decide what we will be doing when He comes.

    Great sermonette.

  2. Question, please. The quoted verses of Matt 24:1-3, is the destruction of the temple (that disciples pointed to Jesus and Jesus commented on), connected to the “sign of Christ coming and the end of the age?”

Jesus comment:“Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

  3. I love this piece. Just spoke to my exterminator regarding this. The best way to be ready is to live like He could return at any moment. Not in paranoia but in a constant state of repentance, love and fellowship with God and with man. Thanks for sharing this with us.
