Was Caster Semenya born with a womb?
There is a question regarding runner, Caster Semenya of South Africa. The question is, does she have ovaries and a womb? Does she have a monthly cycle? And quite frankly, is she of the female gender?
Looking at the picture of her (?), it’s easy to see why there is a question. It’s possible that she’s juiced up on steroids which are known to give women a masculine look.
If in fact she is a woman, she has the flattest, most masculine chest I’ve ever seen in my life. No hint at breasts…exactly like a man’s chest. Strange.
She is being administered a gender test and results should be back within the next few weeks:
South Africa’s track and field federation has been asked to conduct a gender test on an 800-meter runner amid concerns she does not meet the requirements to compete as a woman.
Caster Semenya, 18, won the 800 meters at the world championships with a stunningly dominating run.
TWO strange/odd comments by her handlers/spokespersons:
Odd statement #1 – “We entered Caster as a woman and we want to keep it that way,” Mlangeni-Tsholetsane said. “Our conscience is clear in terms of Caster. We have no reservations at all about that.”
Odd statement #2 – … “if it’s a natural thing and the athlete has always thought she’s a woman or been a woman, it’s not exactly cheating.”

This is beyond stupid.
What specifically is beyond stupid?
To question whether or not this person is a woman makes perfect sense.
I’ll be perfectly honest. I’ve see girls that look just like boys and girls that don’t have a chest at all. I mean seriously you would think they skipped puberty there is nothing there at all. Plus I would think that they test the athletes before the competition usually for drugs and stuff that if something out of the ordinary came up they would have investigated before she(?) ran. Thought I must admit I think she(?) favors a guy I still wonder if any investigation would have been done had she(?) not won. But you do bring up a good point that she could be on steroids. Just my two cents.
Also if Caster is a man I wonder why they didn’t just enter the men’s competition? Why try to pretend to be a woman.
Apparently it’s more complicated than that. Some people are born intersexed- for example with a womb AND testes, which doctors may try to correct at both. To me, she looks both male and female.
“if it’s a natural thing and the athlete has always thought she’s a woman or been a woman, it’s not exactly cheating.” That is not a stupid statement.
She could well be a hermaphrodite or have a Y chromosone and be totally unaware of it.
Another point – Caster has all her life being living as a female, so it is unlikely that anything underhand took place by entering a ‘male’ as a female.
I feel so sorry for this poor woman having to suffer the humiliating press.
once again the world shows it true colors. when a woman from Afrika wins a race & breaks world records, all sorts of stupid questions arise. “meaning it’s not possible for her to do it, so she must be a man. let’s put our measuring gadgets and see if she can hav babies” “oops oh she is a woman…..sorry”
the world & it’s media are messed up, no amount of apology or retractions can take away the humiliation & embarrassment Caster has been put thru. next question will be is she human…….
You’re not getting the point. If she is a man, whether or not she thinks she is or isn’t, it’s not fair that she be allowed to compete in a woman’s event. This isn’t a matter of sexism or racism. (how did race get mixed up in this? idiots!) It’s a matter of fairness. Males are, for the most part, stronger than females physically. That’s why they separate the events into male and female counterparts. Just wait for the results. Hopefully, that will settle the matter once and for all.
LYNN’s RESPONSE: Idiot detector, I believe you can make your point and disagree with others in this community without resorting to name calling.
Thank you.
Just give her the medals. It’s over…
It is only obvious that there would be some questions of gender in Caster’s case. Imagine if your son brought her home to meet the family. Would you have any questions then? Regardless of any opinions we might have, I do agree that if she was allowed to compete without first bringing up these questions, these same questions shouldn’t be an issue in this matter. Now, if she wants to compete from now on those questions should be addressed before the competition.
I have to respect those who brought up the obvious—-instead of whispering around rumors.
Caster looks strange. Let’s find out the truth.
There are valid points brought up here. I do feel badly for her. She is having to endure a lot of stress and scrutiny. But you can’t tell me this is the first time her family and coaches have been made aware this would be an issue if she kept competing. They had to know it was a huge risk. Maybe in a way, she wanted the test done and could not afford it herself. You don’t know what would make her subject herself to this negative reaction. You can’t tell me she hasn’t looked in the mirror, being raised a girl and seen a boy staring back at her. And we have no way of knowing what her feelings are. Being raised a girl and if she thought she was a girl, she has done nothing wrong. But she should not be allowed to continue to compete as a female if she is not one and none of her times should count.
THE DYNAMISM OF NATURE AND THE LIMITS OF MAN AND SCIENCE
The world is widely surprised and interrogating on the true and real sex of the S. African athlete, Caster Semenya. We humans through science thought we have uncovered every aspect of nature, but every now and again, we discover we’ve not even started, our progress notwithstanding. I think Caster should allowed to stay, after all, she it doesn’t depend on her to decide her sex. May be, we should make provision for M/F in the space we normally provide in forms to fill in our sex. Besides, M; F, we should also add M/F, in case one prefers not to go for surgical correction/operation. Congrats Caster for your Gold.
Her body, her voice, her lack of female features, and his/her sudden rise out of nowhere led to this investigation. It has NOTHING to do with: the color of his/her skin, or the country of origin. Plain and simple.
“Also if Caster is a man I wonder why they didn’t just enter the men’s competition? Why try to pretend to be a woman.”
Probably the 13 second differential between the top Men’s time and the top Women’s time.
Good point, Steve-o. Men have a physical advantage.
Perhaps a league should be created for transgenders?
I feel bad for her because she probably has been mocked all her life. At least she can be finally do something that she can be proud of. Besides, why are they questioning her gender now after she won. If there was a problem, they should have checked her out discreetly before the race instead of embarrassing her after she won.
I really appreciate those of you who have the heart of mercy and compassion.
It’s not that those of us on the other side of the fence are not compassionate, it’s just that we are “either/or”. Either she is a woman or she is not. I do feel bad that she is being humiliated but if she is actually a male, it’s not fair to the women in the competition.
Look again at her chest. Odd.
The sex of every athlete is everybody’s business, just like their drug habits, their age, and any other criteria that is used in competitive sports. People who are up in arms concerning the testing are just afraid of the test results. There is hardly a sport that has not been marred by multiple attempts at cheating. That’s why we have the right to test everyone that presents a suspicious set of circumstances. If Semenya is shown to be some kind of hermaphrodite, or even worse, a man brought up to think he was a “she,” than all her care-takers and sports officials involved in her career are to blame. The other suspicious thing is her own attitude. If you are a woman and you are suspected to be a man all the time, that would be surely distressing. Apparently she can care less. If you are a woman and you look in the mirror and you see the image of a grown man, that would be enough to make normal women seriously psychologically disturbed. But if you were a man, claiming to be a woman, and people suspected you were a man, why would you care?
Great points, Alessandra. Your comments brought to my memory the problems in baseball.
From time to time, it’s uncovered that a “phenom” from the Dominican Republic is actually 21 instead of 17, etc.
In fact, it happened just recently where a Washington Nationals “phenom” picked up a million dollars and after some investigation, it was discovered that he is actually a grown man, not a teenager.
So how is that different if this individual, Caster is actually a man. Is it possible that South African coaches purposely put up a man to act as a woman for the money? That’s why they engage in age cheating in baseball.
I agree with the points raised by Alessandra. What I don’t understand is if ‘Ms.” Semenya is reportedly so appalled at ALWAYS being mistaken for a man, then why not ‘soften’ her appearance a little so that it is not even an issue?
Also, does she have a boyfriend? That could pretty much answer some questions right there. I do think it should be investigated though for the reasons that Alessandra mentions. There has long been cheating in competitive sports because of the large amounts of money bestowed upon the winners. If Semenya is really a man who beat out all the women, then ‘he’ should be stripped of whatever titles/prizes were won and they should be given to those who rightfully deserve them.
We must learn to accept nature. There is no doubt that Caster has both male and female characteristics. She did not make that choice herself, nature forced her into it. Therefore, if she chooses to go in for the female competition, I see no problem with that. We must overcome our limitation. besides Male or Female sex, we must make room for MaleandFemale sexes since nature could make one to possess both features. Caster should not be tortured because she won the gold medal. She should be allowed to live the way nature has made her/him if she decides not alter it.
dalilou had mentioned about a person being born with both sexes. It is possible they could have been born with XXY Sex Chromosomes versus just XX for women and XY for men. Being XXY could very well make that person a male, but they might have both sex organs though neither are functioning and it could be possible because of the small male organ their parents usually will opt to allow them to live and believe they are female. Just a thought Lynn.
Genesis 1:26
Caster at this very moment is either a male or a female
I know I am not going to endear myself to anyone with my next statement, but this person appears to be a straight up man! If I am proven wrong, I will come back and apologize in all capitals to everyone on this blog!! If this person is proven to be a man, he should come out and apologize to the world and give back every winning product that was a result of his charade. I need to see some gender test results stat!!! If this person is proven to be a female, then I will express my apologies and sorrow at the way that she has been addressed. When do these results come in??? Ahn ahn, that’s a man!
This case is not a difficult one for a private investigator. This person obviously went to school. When in school in South Africa, did she identify as male or female?
I understand that school is not free in South Africa and if she is from a poor family, perhaps she did not attend school.
However, she came from somewhere. The people in her village should be interviewed. There is clearly a history with this person.
Well, I watched the video and Caster does look both feminine and male at the same time to me personally, but I think some of the articles about this person sound really quite mean.
I used to do weight lifting when I was in my early twenties and to be quite honest I stopped doing it after my back suddenly got noticeably wider and my arms got really muscular. I am naturally of a muscular build anyway.
Now, I used to have some magazines on body building and there are some steroids that if taken by women, can build up a woman’s muscles, cause her to become flat chested losing her breasts and it makes women look masculine. I can’t remember the name of any particular drug, but if women take anabolic steroids there is a tendency to gain more masculine features.
@Lynn, she went to school and she is now at university studying sports science. A report said that her former headmistress thought she was a boy until she was 11. At school she was identified as a girl although she played rough with the boys.
She speaks like a man and has no boobs but she was just unlucky because there are women who are feminine with male voices and there are also women with no boobs but still feminine.
If she had quickly done a boob job nobody would be calling her names… Telling the truth does not always mean that people will accept you. Her voice is the main problem because it is easy to assume she is a man. I really pity her her plight.
