Update on “Pastor” Alonzo Gene McCowan

A few days ago I reported about a “pastor” and his wife who were arrested, accused of some shoddy dealings with an 80+ year old man.  I reported HERE

UPDATE:

Press on THIS LINK to find a news release from Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten about this case.

The news release features husband and wife, Alonzo Gene McCowan (DOB 7/5/60) and Kimberly Ann Oglesby McCowan (DOB 11/6/63).  GO HERE to see their website and church video.

Alonzo Gene McCowan faces 15 years if convicted.

Lonnie McCowan’s attorney, Ron Bamieh, said the case “is much ado about not a whole lot,” adding that Gilmond’s lawsuit against the McCowans was settled last year with Gilmond getting monetary compensation.
“Now, they are taking a civil case and trying to make it a criminal case, and that will be the fight we have in the next few months,” Bamieh said. He said $500,000 bail was excessive.

Hold up. Back up. Did this attorney say that:

a. This case is much ado about “not a whole lot”
b. There was monetary compensation to the victim

Monetary settlement to the victim means that there was money OWED to the victim.

Hicktowners, keep me updated on this case. It will be interesting to see if this “pastor” does any time.

People, you had better support and protect your elderly relatives!

BACK THAT THING UP A COUPLE OF STREETS!!!

Let me get this straight. A law suit was filed against “THE PASTOR”.
Meaning, at some point “THE PASTOR” didn’t want to pay this man any money.

The elderly man took “THE PASTOR” to court and won.
Proving that “THE PASTOR” tried to get away with getting a house for free.
And he REMAINED “THE PASTOR” OF A CHURCH?

Should you be suspended or forced to take a leave of absence or something?
    HELLO, Thy shall not steal.
