I’ve been trying to keep everyone updated on this horrific situation in Maryland wherein “alleged” pedophiles are walking out of jail and making attempts at moving on with their lives.  Apparently there is something peculiar in their water which is affecting their brains because they seem to believe they don’t have to pay for their actions against children.

UPDATE #1 – John Palmont obviously felt the pressure put on him by various blogs and by national news reports.

John Henri Palmont, 27, surrendered with his attorney at the Prince George’s County Processing Office at 2 p.m. Monday, police told FOX

UPDATE #2 – Guess who else is back in jail?

The Liberian immigrant who avoided trial on child rape charges in Montgomery County because of difficulty finding him an interpreter has been arrested again, this time for allegedly failing to appear at a hearing involving a prosecution effort to reinstate the charges.

Mahamu D. Kanneh, 23, of Gaithersburg was taken into custody Monday night in Philadelphia. Sexual assault charges against Kanneh were dismissed last month by a judge who ruled that delays in the case — caused primarily by the interpreter issue — had violated his right to a speedy trial. Source

I could not help but chuckle when I learned that this coward had tried to flee when he saw that he was about to be re-arrested.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Darren Popkin said Kanneh tried to escape when Philadelphia police officers arrived at the residence where he was staying. “He fled down the stairs and attempted to get to a back door,” Popkin said. Source

Deny bond to flight risk, Mahamu D. Kanneh

Target: Montgomery County, Maryland, Circuit Court Judge, Ann S. Harrington
    Created by: Carole Sarcinello

We strongly urge you, in your upcoming ruling on bond for this defendant on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, to recognize he is a flight risk, and as such, should be held without bond.

This case, and the prior decision of Judge Katherine Savage to dismiss the original charges, have made an indelible nationwide negative impression on, not only the judicial system of the State of Maryland, but has shown a lack of its diligence and priority in protecting its children from predators.

These victims (aged 7 and 1-1/2) have been victimized TWICE — first, by their assailant, and now, by the very system empowered . . . NAY, OBLIGATED, to protect them, and if failing to protect them, to at least see that the perpetrator is punished.

PLEASE step forward and take a pro-active move to prevent either another occurrence of abuse, or an evasion of justice.

We thank you for your consideration.
