You all certainly recall that I reported last year on the Harper family. Remember, they had won an Extreme Makeover home and all they had to do in the FREE home was live in it and enjoy it. Instead, those foolish individuals took out a loan on the home, and defaulted on the loan when the business failed.
They got bailed out via a reprieve last summer but has defaulted again. If interested in purchasing it, show up on the courthouse steps on Tuesday, March 3rd!
Channel 2 Action News consumer investigator Jim Strickland has learned that a metro Atlanta home featured on ABC’s “Extreme Home Makeover” is facing foreclosure for the second time in less than a year.
The 5,500-square-foot Clayton County home, located on Ahyoka Drive in Lake City, is scheduled to be sold on the courthouse steps Tuesday.

I can’t say I’m surprised. These folks didn’t seem like they had a solid plan. If I recall correctly they had put all their hopes, liquid cash and energy into running some construction business, but had no knowledgde of that industry. Not to mention that in this economic depression we are in, that is one of the main fields that is suffering as no one can afford to build anything these days.
It’s one thing to have a dream, but when you realize that the dream is not coming into fruition the way you had hoped, it’s really time to put a plan “B” into action, and sadly these folks never seemed to think that they needed a plan B.
I work 40+ hrs a week,I have recently gained custody of 3 of my grandchildren(ages 1,2,and 3),and have guardianship of my disabled adult daughter(20yo) and was told Friday, I don’t qualify for food stamps. My monthly rent is $1250.00 per month, huge electric bill during the winter months not including oil. Every dime I earn goes to running my household. My total salary last year was under $35,000.00. I can’t get a government bailout, and nobody has put my name into the pot for a rebuilt, or new house. Now I don’t know the circumstances of the Harper family, but what a blessing it is they have squandered away. Shall we pray for them!!!!
I am disowning you Cushites. Why can’t we do right?
No SouthernVal, I will not pray for them!
My prayers go to you and may the Lord, God bless you real good, may the blessing of the Lord overtake you and your family-that every bill would be paid and every need met in your home. Be blessed-amen!
Thank you for the prayer Lady D. I am not the only parent that is parenting again. I thought I’d be like Stella and get my groove back at 50 yo, but the Lord knows better. I didn’t comment for any sympathy because I am not the only one going through. I just can’t believe they blew that blessing off like it happens all the time!!! Oh well, ya live and you learn or you crash and burn!
