I just received a disturbing letter from the mother of two of the accused killers of Derrion Albert. [I cannot prove that it was truly Sherry Smith but she claims to be Sherry Smith]

My name is Sherry Smith; I’m the mother of Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock.
Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock were attacked by Fenger High School Students.
I would like to say “I give my condolences to the family of Derrion Albert, and we are responding to the negative publicity my son is receiving when he was acting in self defense.Both of my sons are in this videotaped incidents and I want to address specifically the other side that is not being portrayed in the media. Society is now convicting Eugene before knowing the story entirely.
He is some important facts that have been overlooked.
1. Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock are Brothers.
2. Eugene Riley picks up Vashion Bullock from Fenger High School regularly.
3. Vashion Bullock has been harassed by “The Ville” for 3 years, since attending Fenger High School.
4. Vashion was suspended earlier Thursday September 24, 2009.
5. Eugene Riley and Vashion Bullock arrived at Fenger High School unarmed and were attack.
6. Vashion Bullock may loose an eye from a brick to the face in the incident.

I must say that I am totally flabbergasted.
1. Ms. Smith and her two sons all have different last names. That alone tells me a story. We have a problem here. I’m sorry that one of the boys may lose an eye but Derrion has lost his LIFE over nothing. His life was lost because we have a nation of black boys who hate themselves and others. They then attack other black boys and KILL THEM.
2. In her message, Ms. Smith was unable to explain why it is that her son had to “pick up” her other son from school. These are 18 – 19 year olds. If it was due to concern over him being picked on, why weren’t the police called and why was he not transferred?
3. In her message, Ms. Smith was unable or unwilling to tell me what on earth her sons’ “harrassment” had to do with the fact that a young man—an honor roll student named Derrion Albert was beaten to death on film for simply walking past a fight. Is Ms. Smith insinuating that Derrion was picking on her sons? If so, I say BULL! And I also say, STOP blaming a dead child’s death on the dead child. Video cameras do not support the claim!
Um….Ms. Smith? I’d be more than happy to interview you on BlogTalk Radio. But right now, your message did not make any sense to me.
There is video showing your son beating a young man and that young man is dead, ma’am. According to the video, your son used deadly weapons in spite of you indicating that he was unarmed. A stick is a deadly weapon, evidenced by the fact that Derrion is DEAD.
I’d love to know whether or not your “suspended” son has a criminal record—or whether or not this is the first time your two sons have had brushes with the law.
FINALLY…..What on earth is “RAWW Films”? Is a film in the works here? Why does Ms. Smith need a public relations firm? Her son is on video being shown beating a child with a stick. The child is now dead. And she needs a public relations firm?
Scratching my head, folks. We are wondering why our youth are running loose like crazed animals who have zero home training? Oooooookay!

Next, where are the fathers of her sons?
It’s awfully quick for her to be in contact via a “Raww films”.
I notice she is dropping off the note above to a variety of outlets—anyone who has mentioned her sons, I presume.
She’s barking up the wrong tree over here. This is a pro-victim blog and her son is on video clearly the aggressive one against a boy who is now dead. She claims her son was a victim? Well why was her “victim” son the one arrested for clear violence against a now dead boy?
I too read that hot mess of a letter and wondered what on earth is RAWWWWW films??… sounds like porno if you ask me… and what does it have to do with this situation in which a young man lost his life for no reason?
I agree with everything you said in that it made no sense to me. And I too don’t see why two practically grown men need to pick one another up from school; why they were reportedly picked on, but there seems to be no prior documentation of this, or attempts to prevent such from happening.
And if this woman did in fact write this letter, she should be very aware that she may be hurting her sons instead of helping them, as she wasn’t there when this incident transpired and by her giving public press releases to various media outlets, only hurts her sons’ criminal defense.
And furthermore, even if what she alleges, is true and that her son’s were defending themselves, there is a difference between defending yourself and taking it too far to the point where a life is taken. And there are ALWAYS consequences when a life is taken.

You have a point about “RAWW” sounding like some porno outlet. It also sounds like the professional wrestling that comes on cable. They call themselves Raw.

one of those times. Nothing she can say can take away from that video. Thats whats wrong with our black children, parents who defend them whether right or wrong, failure to allow these grown men to take responsibility for their actions. They looked crazed and depraved. The whole world saw this, why can’t she?
Her letter made absolutely no sense. It is amazing how quickly they will try to sell their story. Somehow this seems like hogwash to me.
Lynn, you are right. Where are the fathers of her children? Seems to me that who she needs to get in touch with. She had two monsters who should be thrown in prison for the rest of their lives for what they did to Derrion Albert.

Ok, This letter from Ms. Smith is in regards to what happened with her children and the unfortunate death of Darrion Alberts, the reason u don’t understand is because you could never understand. I am the Co founder of RAWW Films and no it is not a porn company. We are responding to the mass negative publicity that Eugene has been getting. Eugene has never commited any other crimes and Vashion has not either. The issue is that Vashion has been going to school at Fenger for 3 years and has been walking away from the people who initiated this incident. Eugene was defending his brother and himself. The video did not show 50 people surrounding them and bricking Eugene’s car. You only see after Eugene snactched the railroad tier from the boy(who just hit Vashion) He is reacting from being attacked. Who would not fight back. Now scientifically, when the body is filled with adrenaline, the natural reaction is to fight back with 10 times the force that is how the human body works. Seems to me that people are judging based on what they see and not the whole story. By the way Sherry is my sister and I will suppport her any way I can and that is why RAWW films is accepting comments on her behalf because she has enough to deal with and obviously this situation is fueled with hatred and racism so no one is looking at this with just reasoning.
LYNN’s RESPONSE: Sir, with all due respect, racism has NOTHING to do with what happened here—unless you are referencing black on black crime.
My advice to you is to take it to the jury and judge because I don’t believe your excuses for Eugene’s behavior and I’m actually disgusted that you cannot think beyond Eugene when there is a dead boy at hand.
No one forced Eugene to pick up a weapon. That was a choice. And no one forced him to continue beating the young man past the point of unconsciousness and DEATH.
Darrion is the one and only victim here. He was an honor roll student attempting to get home and CRIMINALS attacked and murdered him. Simple as that.
I am not a sir, I and I am un-interested in your advice seeing as you have no clue as to what goes on in “my” meaning “low income Black” communities, so your advice and judgment mean nothing to me. I am interested in real justice. In this current society, real justice will never prevail for the majority of Black America. Mainly because of imperialistic white society, so…..

I agree, ummmm….
He saw Darrion ALREADY getting jumped. Then after watching him, he made the conscious decision to deliberately RUN over to him and beat him in the head as hard as he could with a wooden plank and kill him. Not only did he KILL him, but he hit him ANOTHER time AFTER he was dead.
How is this in ANY way justifiable? How in ANY way, can you call that defense?
