I believe in marriage and I love to see black couples married, especially when they are in the national view where young black children can see them and be influenced in a positive way by them.
It was disappointing to me when Shaq and his wife Shaunie were having marital problems and accusing each other of cheating and a whole bunch of other mess. And yes, it was just mess, nonsense, and old fashioned foolishness.
Imagine how happy I was when GodlySoldier mentioned that the two of them are going to work towards mending their marriage. That’s good news!
The wife of Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal says the couple’s marriage is on the mend.
Shaunie O’Neal says she and her husband plan to put a stop their divorce proceedings before leaving Florida next week. She said Thursday: “It will be officially off in a few days.”

Cosign this post! I have been catching up on this timely blog for the last few days, and now that I have read all posts, I can finally chime in! Thank you for what you do here (all of you), and Lynn, thanks for providing a warm place to relax awhile!
Continued blessings!
Welcome to HickTown, Reggae828 and my hope is that you will become a regular Hicktowner. Town citizenship has its priviledges. LOL
After all the dirt Supahead exposed about him in her books, I guess he realized “It’s cheaper to keep her.”
It is good that they are trying to resolve their differences. Marriage between ‘normal’ people has enough difficulties to work through. I feel sorry for these celebrities, because their difficulties take on a whole new plentitude. It is starting to be very rare that celebrity marriages work out and stand the test of time. Shaq and Shaunie need to dig their heels in decide that they are in it for the long haul.
I was just reading earlier that Hulk Hogan does not want to divorce his wife of 20+ year, but that she is insisting that she wants a divorce and wants to continue playing around with her 19-year-old boy toy. If one half of a marriage wants to resolve the differences in a marriage (like Shaunie did in the O’Neal marriage), then it is a sad day when the other half will not try to retain the entity of the marriage. Why is it that people no longer want to work at marriage??
That is an excellent question Dee. I know someone who is throwing in the towel after 25 years of marriage. I said, “Are you sure you want to do this?” I even urged her to reconsider and pointed out that being single is not that glamourous either. You have to worry about AIDS and other incurable STD’s like herpes; whether the person you are dating is on the sex offender registry; a convicted felon; pathologial liar; serial cheater; polygomist; someone we’ve blogged about here on HickTown… and that’s AFTER we’ve verified that he is saved and knows Jesus as his personal savior! LOL
She said she had been weighing her decision for a while and that she needed to do it. But I do think some couples are not willing to put any work into the marriage, let alone in saving it. It’s really sad.
Don’t forget whether or not he is on the ‘down low’ which is sometimes hard to detect.
Thank you for the warm welcome, Lynn. I am checking out the real estate! LOL!
Maybe Hulk changed his mind when realizing it’s cheaper to keep her…I “heard” reports of him might having to pay her some serious alimony…things that make you go hmmmm…
Anyway, it is sad today about folks just giving up on marriage. I personally know 4 couples that got married around the same time my husband and I did, and they are now divorced (I’ve been married 6 wonderful yrs)
My currently praying and standing in faith with a girlfriend who’s marriage is on the rocks after 20 years. We are determined to pray this thing through. What’s so sad is that the problem is just like that guy’s video that IC had on his blog. Her husband is putting the “church” before their marriage! Hers is the 4th or 5th marriage that’s being split up because one spouse has loyalty to a “man” instead of Christ and their marriage vows. It just makes me so angry (a righteous anger) to see how this apostate church and biblical ignorance is tearing this marriage apart (and others) apart!
I thank God that He got me and my husband up out of there!
(no Ginny, this is the church I attended after I left 3349 Rubidoux Blvd…yes I went from the frying pan into the fire)
I’m glad my eyes are now opened to these wolves and their doctrine of demons!
Well, I pray Shaq & Shaunie’s marriage and trust in each other is totally restored and that they both come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
See how mad I was typing that comment, I didn’t check for my typos and errors…I’m so sorry, please forgive me…
