Former baseball player and accused steroids user, Sammy Sosa was once a dark skinned black hispanic man. Now he has put green contacts in his eyes and apparently had his skin dyed white. Sad.

Very sad! People should work on being happy in the skin they are in…
It could be lighting and/or makeup but still be happy with what God gave you…

A scathing indictment of the self hatred that still permeates the thinking of many people of color.
Saddest thing is that Sammy is pretty much illiterate in both Spanish and English which is why the endorsements are (were) slim. Instead of getting a tutor to develop himself, he gets skin lightener to develop a most unattractive picture. Funny what people can’t see right in front of them.
Just amazing. I almost didn’t recognise this dude.
However, I understand why a lot of people try to bleach their skin, they seem to think it would make them more acceptable to White people, although they are mistaken anyway.
This is just plain horrible to look at. Not only is he having an identity crisis, but he ended up looking like a true circus freak. I certainly hope that that isn’t the look that he was aiming for! He needs to demand a REFUND!
From my understanding, he is using some cream that he believes has made his skin more healthy, I dont know if that is the reason why his skin is lighter, but it is obviously not an issue to him, he doesnt seem to be obsessed with skin color like many people in the states are. Latin americans in my experience arent obsessed with superficial stuff like that.
Reader – I have to disagree. Latin Americans are just as obessed with skin color as people in any other country…in some cases more. Skin lightening creams are in major abundance in those countries and there is major racial discrimination (akin to what we used to see here in the US before the civil rights movement) in those countries just as here in the US and anywhere else, that drives the darker color people in those countries to want lighter skin. Its the same everywhere, black/brown skin is evil and bad, white/pink skin is good and pure. We all know there are good and bad in all races.
Those sterotypes/belief systems/values/morals learned from thier home country come with them when they immigrate to another country. They also get passed down to the generations that are born outside of the home country too.
