I was sorry to hear that the infamous “Mr. Blackwell” has died. In my opinion, he was dead-on (no pun intended) when pointing out the Worst Dressed Celebrities from year to year.
No one was more on-point and he would sometimes pick out celebrities that no one would have thought of. It would tickle me to hear celebrities say, “Who is Mr. Blackwell?” I’ll never forget the year that he put Debbie Allen on the list. She deserved to be there, as she has zero sense of style.
Another thing I liked about him was that he would take celebrities to task about showing up at elite award shows dressed in jeans and looking like shabby bums and heroin addicts. Good for him!
Rest in peace “Mr. Blackwell”. You were right in your choices and I’ll miss you!
“Mr. Blackwell,” whose annual “worst dressed” list dinged movie stars, music icons and European royalty and helped turn him into a household name from the 1960s through the ’80s, has died. He was 86.
Blackwell had been in failing health and died Sunday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from an intestinal infection, according to publicist Harlan Boll.
