Rev. Timothy Wright is in Rehab Minus Health Insurance
By: Lynn Green
UPDATE – 8/7/08: I was listening to the Al Sharpton program. Sharpton indicated that Rev. Wright did have insurance but it is exhausted.
Everyone, never go out there on the “deep” without insurance. It’s too risky. I recently reported on Rev. Timothy Wright who was the victim of a drunken driver. As a result, Wright’s wife is now dead, as is his grandson and the drunken driver. Tragic.
Adding to the tragedy is the fact that Timothy Wright has no health insurance? You know what? That is unthinkable. When you are making money and you are your own employer, you work insurance into your budget.
Now they need donations to help pay for his rehabilitation.

This reminds me of singer Angela Bofil who suffered a stroke and had no money to pay for her medical bills and no insurance. I recall several radio stations in my area being involved in some benefit concerts to help raise mony for her care. So sad! Did they ever finally tell him that his wife and grandson died? I recall reading that he was asking for his wife, and no one wanted to ‘upset’ him and tell him that she died. It seemed a little weird to me as they already had the funeral and memorial service and I’m sure he would have wanted to know and at least been there.
Yes, apparently entertainers (who are self employed) often don’t bother with insurance. Very sad indeed.
He is now alert so he may know about the deaths by now.
This is so sad. Did the motorist that caused all this havoc insured? I pray that God brings comfort to him during this difficult time of loss. Losing your wife is one thing, but I would have wanted to attend services at the least. I hope he can gain closure.
I’m not sure how this would apply since the accident was in Pennsylvania, but in NYS, since Rev. Wright and his family were residents of NYS, if they were a victim of a crime (which this should be since it was a drunk driver crash), they should be entitled to assistance through the NYS Crime Victims Board. They would typically cover any medical expenses (They just take FOREVER to pay them though). They also would try to go after the other driver’s insurance and put a lien on any lawsuit the family files against the drunken driver, his estate and insurance company, to recoup some of the monies they paid out.
I heard on the radio this morning that Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network is doing a fundraiser (I think tomorrow) to raise money for Rev. Wright’s care & rehabilitation.
Thanks for letting us know that Al Sharpton is helping this man. My heart bleeds for him. At no fault of his own, he has lost his wife, grandchild, and mobility.
People can say what they want about Al but Al is more helpful to the black community than are his foes.
Rev. Al has photos of Rev. Wright and a nice article on the home page of his website: http://www.nationalactionnetwork.net/
Yeah shortcomings and such, but when help is needed are they really there for them??? Most of the people that bash him are the ones that aren’t sticking their own necks out there to help others.
I am encouraged by seeing the pic and reading that he now has movement in his shoulders. It just shows us the awesome mercy of God! I love that God is still pouring out his mercy on us daily.
