This is the third instance that I’ve heard of where a tenant pays his rent on time, but the landlord is in foreclosure and never bothers to inform the tenant. As our economy worsens, I’m afraid this is going to become more of an epidemic.
Families with small children are being evicted by marshalls’ and taken by complete surprise because they never knew that the home they were living in was in foreclosure. They simply figured that if they paid their rent on time, they would have a roof over their head. Apparently, though there are many landlords out there who collect rent, but neglect to take care of their financial responsibility of paying the mortgage. I believe that greed and this volatile housing market are also reasons why many of these landlords do not put the houses up for sale when they realize they can no longer afford them. I hope that some legislation is passed very soon to protect these renters as they have very little, if any, means of finding out whether the home they rent is in foreclosure. VIDEO
