Record “Mogul”, Damon Dash is Broke

By:  Lynn Green

Money in the hands of a fool is soon departed.

You have heard that old proverb, right?

This is what I don’t understand about certain celebrities. Why do they feel a need to own 10 houses, 100 cars, and more clothes than they will ever be able to wear?

Why not buy one house, fix it up beautifully….and maybe a summer or vacation home? And two vehicles, maximum.

Damon Dash is silly. I’ve been hearing for months that he was in financial trouble. You’d have to be stone cold crazy and stupid to lose the many millions that this guy has lost:

A bank wants his Tribeca condos, the city is seizing his SUV and his lawyer dropped him for not paying his legal bills.

It’s not easy being Damon Dash, has-been hip-hop mogul.

The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear – who in 2005 sold his share in the clothing empire to Jay-Z for $20 million – is under assault in Manhattan Supreme Court from lawyers, lenders and landlords fed up with not getting paid.

The fall has been a dizzying one for Dash, who has gone from owning Keds, a vodka company and 1,300 pairs of shoes to dodging bills and accusing a former accountant of ripping him off for millions of dollars.

I’ve blogged about him before. It seems as though he and his wife are in trouble, but she seems to have a few more dollars than he does right now. What really irks me about Damon Dash though was that he was among the first of those celebrities to come out with one of those reality shows (Ultimate Huslter) and was ripping chains from their neck to eliminate them. What happened to his hustler spirit? I guess he figured he had arrived and there was no need to hustle any more.
