UPDATE 7/31/08 – According to the search warrant, a sexual affair involving Anthony Hopkins and one of his eight children had been going on for eight years. In the warrant, one of Hopkins’ daughters says on or around November 4, 2004, her mother, Arletha Hopkins, caught her dad sexually abusing her in a bathroom at their home. The daughter says that lead to an argument, and the next morning her father asked her to help hide her mom’s body in a freezer. SOURCE

Sir….Would you mind explaining why and how it is that your wife, Arletha’s dead body ended up in your freezer? Furthermore, would you explain why and how you were able to bring yourself to go preach a sermon on forgiveness as though nothing was wrong? How could you bring yourself to preach, knowing your dead wife was laid up in your freezer? This is crazy!
Huh? And also, what’s this about you abusing and sexually assaulting some of your children? You have a lot to answer for.
A Mobile man is facing charges of murder, rape, sodomy, and incest. Police believe Anthony Hopkins murdered his wife, and kept her in the freezer putting his family through a reign of terror and sexual abuse. It happened on Rylands Street.
Police say behind the yellow tape lived a family of eight children who’ve endured years of abuse. Police say their father, Anthony Hopkins; most likely killed his wife, and sexually abused at least one of his kids. But thanks to one brave child, it looks like the nightmare could be over. Source
I don’t even know what to say, sir. This has me mind boggled. I am trying to figure out how she has been missing for THREE years and her family did not demand answers!
Somebody, please hand me a glass of cold water and some Kleenex because I need to wipe the sweat off my brow before I even continue. I am just about fit to be tied. Anybody have a sedative? My nerves are shot!
Oh, well. Looks like I will need to add Alabama to HickTown’s list of states producing rogue ministers. Good gracious!
Here’s the deal. While “Minister” Hopkins was in the pulpit preaching forgiveness, his wife’s dead body was in his freezer. The police locked him up at the church.
Look at his lying excuse that he gave to the congregation for not having a wife:
Hopkins and seven of his children were there as part of a revival at the Inspirational Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.
Evangelist Beverly Jackson said hopkins told her the reason he was a single parent was because his wife had died four years ago while giving birth to their son.
Scratching my head. I defy anybody to tell me that satan is not loose and on the prowl…controlling the minds and hearts of too many “preachers”.

My head is still spinnning from this story. And the mugshot of him looks crazy like he is indeed capable of these acts. His eyes look empty and as though he has no soul whatsoever. I too wonder why no one questioned more about the wife being gone and where was HER family? Also in one of the news links it was mentioned that people in the area claimed that they had met the wife at one point and they thought she might have been from Texas or Georgia. But still no one questioned, not seeing her?
I guess it was hard since he kept them moving around from church to church… obviously to keep from having this secret come out. I pray for the children as who knows what they went through and more than likely knew their mother was in a freezer all that time, but couldn’t report it out of fear.
It’s sicker that sick. And to know he was sodomizing at least one of his children. Wow!
It’s sick, repulsive, reprehensible and much, much more! It is sad that when I was narrating this article to my 20-year-old son that he wanted to know if there was anything else that had happened to the lady other than being placed in the freezer. He went on to say that her being placed in a freezer didn’t sound like much compared to everything else that we see in the news. His reaction is obviously one of desensitization. Desensitization because we are seeing more and more atrociously gruesome acts carried out against mankind. The enemy is stepping his game up because his time is nearly up. We need to pray for these children. I fear that they will never be normal. As far as I am concerned, he murdered his wife’s physical body and also his children’s emotional state. They will probably all be tortured, disturbed individuals for the remainder of their earthly lives. It is cases like this that make me want to pull the switch for free.
And to hear that he had gall to give some bogus sermon on forgiveness ‘directed more at his children’ really infuriates me. He clearly knew that it was only a matter of time before he would be arrested and the truth would come out, so he gave this false appearence of being repentant. The fact that he did these unspeakable crimes against his own family, while claiming to be a “Mand of Gawd,” is such sickening.
What this man did is repulsive and I hope he gets the death penalty. I am surprised that he kept this up for so long, but as they say, the truth comes to light when you least expect it. I put up on my blog this evening and I must say, I was totally appalled and disappointed that yet another pastor has been caught in some mess, but this one takes the cake. I hate to say it, but he deserves an old-fashioned stoning. What a monster.

I don’t even know what to say, except I agree with others the me MUST PRAY for the children! This kind of thing is what the enemy will use to turn them against God and the “real” church. It reminds me of the children in the Texas case with the FLDS church scandal.
So, so sad.
I am glad that she finally came forward, even if it did take her four years. Did any of the other children know that their mother was in that freezer??
He may not be a serial killer like Jeffrey Dahmer and the others, but he should be classified in their ranks. His gruesome act is just as bad or worse.

I totally agree with everyone. Words cannot express the emotinons brought on by such an abominable act! The thought of the child being raped by her father in the house under the same roof as her mother and other siblings, while they were home, is unbelieveable. I hope the authorities question the other children, because its a known fact, that if one child is being raped by a parent, a second child is usually being raped as well.
The nerves of him to have his daughter to assist him in hiding the mother’s body, is horror within its self. And for this child to have lived with knowning that her father killed her mother?… What do you say?… What can you say?… There are no words to express what this poor child has gone through emotionally, mentally, and physically over the years before her mother’s death. Not to mention after assisting with the hiding of her body, and knowing her mother’s whereabouts in the freezer for four years. Its no doubt the child took the place of the mother sexually, for this dog! What pain this child has suffered, we can’t even began to imagine. But the salvation of the Lord moved in to deliver her and the other children from the evil acts of her oppressor.
My question is, where were the parents, or other fmaily members, and friends of the mother? Did anyone report her missing?
Blackpolitical and Godlysoldier, this IS a death penality case, but didn’t Congress reject that law? Death penality for child molesters?… He doesn’t derserve life, because he has no life within himself, and has stolen the life of his wife, his own child and other children. He better be glad I ain’t God… I would mark this as an unpardonable sin, and he would die 10 times, once for his wife, and eight times for each child, and one for the principle of falsely calling himself a MAAN of GODD… the lying spirit!
We all must take this one to the altar!

He may not get the death penalty for his crimes of child molestation, but he may very well get it for his wife’s murder and the extenuating circumstances surrounding her murder. I haven’t checked to see if the death penalty is in effect in that state.
