A confused person named “JforJesus” stopped in here last week to insult HickTown for exposing the Wolf, Darrell Gilyard—the so-called “pastor” who has a history of preying on women. Instead of being blackballed from the ministry, churches continue to transfer him from church to church where he continues preying on women and young girls.

I would like to know what “JforJesus” and her ilk have to say about the fact that not only has Gilyard confessed in the past to preying on women, but he has resigned in the past—only to end up at other churches.

Well, he quit again. That apparently is his M.O. Today he resigned. I would like to see him arrested if the girl in question is under age. If she is found to be a minor, then he is a danger to society.

Look at this news report!

A high-powered Jacksonville pastor has resigned five weeks after a criminal investigation began into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a church member’s daughter.

Pastor Darrell Gilyard, who took a voluntary paid leave of absence from the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church after the investigation began on Nov. 29, resigned effective Friday, according to his resignation letter. The letter was provided to the Times-Union by The Dalton Agency, a public relations firm that represents Gilyard.

Gilyard, 45, lives in a gated community and does not have a listed phone number. He could not be reached to comment this afternoon. In a prepared statement, he said he’s decided to put the interests of the church and congregation ahead of his own. He led the large church on West Beaver Street since April 1993.

My commitment to the church and its congregation has been one of the most rewarding of my life, Gilyard wrote. In life, there comes a time when the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one, and the church and its ministry are larger than just me.

The investigation stemmed from a mother’s report to the Sheriff’s Office that she found obscene text messages on her daughter’s cell phone. The messages were sent from a phone number belonging to Gilyard the mother said in a complaint filed with the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation by Sheriff’s Office sex crimes detectives is ongoing, said Melissa Bujeda, a spokeswoman for the police agency. No charges have been filed.

I want to know how old this child is because…

FOUR deacons attempted to cover this filth up

The woman said she went to the church about the phone calls and learned the phone number belonged to Gilyard. She said she spoke with four church deacons about the phone calls and showed them a journal of alleged sexual encounters with Gilyard. She said the deacons told her not to involve the police until they could discuss the allegations with Gilyard, according to her statements in the police report.

The mother went to the Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 29 to make her report. When asked why she waited a month to lodge her complaint with police, she said she’d been told the church was going to handle the matter.

According to the police report, a mother said she found obscene text messages when she checked her daughter’s phone on Oct. 23. The mother is not identified in the report and her daughter’s age is not listed. The mother said she later spoke with another woman who said her daughter also had received sexually graphic messages from the same phone number.

Below is FROM a 1991 article

Rev. Darrell Gilyard, who resigned from his Richardson church less than two weeks ago after confessing to sexual misconduct, was back in the pulpit Sunday at a newly formed church. Mr. Gilyard, ignoring advice from fellow ministers not to preach for two years, led the first service of the new Grace Community Church at the Hilton Hotel in Richardson. The church was formed by his supporters.

At times, the 150-member congregation stood and applauded and shouted hearty amens in support of Mr. Gilyard’s new ministry. “I ask for unequivocal forgiveness,’ Mr. Gilyard said. “Some will claim that I have failed to repent because I stepped back into the pulpit,’ he said. “But God above is my judge. I’ll obey God rather than man.’ Mr. Gilyard, 29, resigned from Victory Baptist Church July 10 after confessing sexual misconduct to church officials.

Allegations from church members prompted First Baptist Church officials, including Dr. Paige Patterson, Mr. Gilyard’s mentor and a former teacher, to launch an investigation.

The Dallas Morning News last week detailed charges from five women of Mr. Gilyard’s sexual misdeeds. Charges from the women ranged from improper phone calls to affairs.

Similar allegations had followed Mr. Gilyard throughout his preaching career. Officials at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Oak Cliff fired him in 1987 after about 25 women there complained.

Is he gone for good this time? Or will he pop up again, to further victimize and prey on women and girls?

The Catholic Priest scandals of the late 90’s should have taught us some lessons. You DON’T transfer a predator in hopes that the problem will go away!
