“Pastor” Darrell Gilyard Arrested Like a Common Criminal

January 14, 2008

I understand that “Pastor” Darrell Gilyard has fans. One of them, JforJesus, rolled up in here recently talking crazy and supporting this man whom she apparently has some type of crush on. He has that effect on women. I don’t know what they see in him.

Gilyard’s fans are primarily confused and misguided women who have slept with or imagined sleeping with  this womanizing lust-filled rogue in spite of knowing he has a wife and a need for sex that cannot be satisfied. One of his fans came to HickTown recently and insulted the members here, calling us “hicks”.  WRONG!  We are HickTowners, chick. And you  need to stop chasing up behind the devil, lady!

Well, his fans can whip out the Kleenex because this lust pot, parading around like a pastor, has been arrested!

The Rev. Darrell Gilyard was charged tonight with lewd and lacivious conduct in connection with allegations of sending sexually explicit text messages to the teenage daughter of a member of his former Jacksonville church. Gilyard, who resigned on Jan. 4 as pastor of the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, turned himself into police with his attorney about 5 p.m. and declined to make a statement, an arrest report said. He posted $5,000 bail about 45 minutes later and was released from the Duval County jail.

HOLD UP! Five thousand dollars bail and was out in 45 minutes??? HUH? See, this is one of the reasons that these wolves feel comfortable roaming loose, preying on girls and women.

The arrest culminates a six-week investigation that began when a mother reported to police on Nov. 29 that she found obscene text messages when she checked her 14-year-old daughter’s phone on Oct. 23. The mother is not identified in the report. The messages were sent from a phone number belonging to Gilyard, 45, the mother said in a complaint filed with police.

I would like for Gilyard’s fan club members who visit this blog talking crazy to explain the following to me:

In the police report filed Nov. 29, the mother of the teen said she later spoke with another woman who indicated her 16-year-old daughter also had received sexually graphic messages from the same phone number. That woman said she went to the church about the phone calls and learned the phone number belonged to Gilyard. She said she spoke with four church deacons about the phone calls and showed them a journal of sexual encounters with Gilyard. She said the deacons told her not to involve the police until they could discuss the allegations with Gilyard, according to her statements in the police report. After the mother of the 14-year-old went to the Sheriff’s Office file her report, she was asked why she waited a month to lodge her complaint with police. She said she’d been told the church was going to handle the matter, the report said.

Can Gilyard’s fans explain to me how they can support a man who apparently has tired of chasing every grown woman he can shake a stick at, but who now is allegedly chasing little girls. This is scary. At least he is losing his standing within the church community:

The Rev. Jerry Vines, who encouraged Gilyard as a seminary student and then agreed to forgive him for his problems in Texas, has said he would never condone sexual misconduct. He reiterated his concerns about Gilyard in an e-mail Monday night. I extended forgiveness and mercy to him and evidently he trampled upon them, Vines wrote. No minister if guilty of sexual improprieties, especially with underage children, should ever be allowed to stand behind the sacred desk again. Let the truth be found and let justice be done.
