I was just about to get ready for bed when I signed on one last time and saw a story that really got under my skin. It’s not your imagination that Christianity is under attack. No, you are not paranoid. Yes, it’s “all access” when it comes to going after the throats of Christians and has been for awhile as the devil continues his attacks in these last days.
On paper I am a Republican. And it is NOT because I necessarily like them or find them to be great people. The reason I am a registered Republican is because at a minimum, at least for now—the Republicans still show an open respect for God, religion, and Christianity. At a minimum they respect the Lord and that is the sole reason I changed my party affiliation about 7 years ago.
To prove to you that I did the right thing (or at least prove to myself), I need to share with you the latest assault on Christianity.
Representative Steve King recently decided to seek an official resolution that would serve the purpose of acknowledging the importance of Christmas in general and Christianity in particular. He got the idea from the fact that Congress had recognized Ramadan and indicated that Islam is a “great” religion. Okay, fine. So Rep. King rightfully decided to officially mark Christianity as a great religion and Christmas as a holiday worthy of being celebrated.
That sounds like a no-brainer, right? You’d think that it would have received 100% support, right? WRONG! Whereas 100% of the Repubicans voted “yea”, there were NINE democrats who voted NO to the resolution. Can you believe that? YET, those nine voted FOR Ramadan and Islam. Okay? Now what does that tell you?
The nine Members voting NO were Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY), Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) (FL), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA), Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), and Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).
None of the nine voted against resolutions honoring the Islamic holiday of Ramadan and the Hindu holiday of Diwali.
Nine Democrats voted No – Ackerman, Clarke, DeGette, Hastings (FL), Lee, McDermott, Scott (VA), Stark and Woolsey.
Nine Democrats voted Present – Conyers, Frank (MA), Holt, Payne, Schakowsky, Schwartz, Wasserman Schultz, Welch (VT) and Yarmuth (NOTE: Voting “present” is a cowardly way of voting “no”)
This is interesting because of this group 17 of the 18 Ds above voted FOR a resolution honoring Ramadan (Lee missed the vote). Note that the King resolution was based on the language in the Ramadan resolution. You can compare them if you want, but King’s is more benign. Ramadan – H.Res. 635 and Christmas – H. Res. 847
I was not surprised to see that rat, Alcee Hastings on the list who voted against Christianity. Given his record, it’s hard to understand why and how he keeps being voited into office in Florida.
The Ramadan resolution began:
Whereas Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal for Muslims worldwide, and is the 9th month of the Muslim calendar year; and Whereas the observance of the Islamic holy month of Ramandan commenced at dusk on September 13, 2007, and continues for one lunar month: “
The Christmas resolution started:
Whereas Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the world… Whereas on December 25 of each calendar year, American Christians observe Christmas, the holiday celebrating the birth of their savior, Jesus Christ…Whereas many Christians and non-Christians throughout the United States and the rest of the world, celebrate Christmas as a time to serve others”
The Ramadan resolution then acknowledged “the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world,” expressed “friendship and support for Muslims,” noted “the onset of Ramadan,” and rejected “hatred, bigotry, and violence directed against Muslims.” It also “commends Muslims who have privately and publicly rejected interpretations and movements of Islam that justify and encourage hatred.”
The Christmas resolution continued to acknowledge “the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world,” expressed “continued support for Christians,” noted the historical importance of Christmas, the role “played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States,” and rejected “bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide.”
“Notice that the Christmas resolution uses similar language. It is astonishing that those who supported the Ramadan Resolution would vote against the Christmas Resolution,” Liberty Counsel said.
The group suggested voters check the lists for votes by their representatives. “If they voted against Christmas and in favor of Ramadan, respectfully point out their hypocrisy,” the group said.
HickTowners, do Christians a favor. Mark the names of the nine democrats who voted against Jesus. Punish them at the polls!

why would politics and religion be lumped together. i would vote republican if i supported the candidate. but never because they supported my religion. that would assume that a person could do anything they wanted to do as long as they went to my church, or worshiped who i worshiped. its the same people who supported our current less than intelligent president, who has sacrificed so many American lives for some get back from 911. just my opinion.
DarkBrotha,
Politics and religion are very much lumped together. A politician is in a position to affect the Church in an adverse manner and to actually make laws that go against Christians. There are certain sins that the bible speaks of. A politician can make a law that accuses a Christian of “discriminating” when in fact we are simply following the law of the scripture.
So there is no way to separate out the two.

Christians aren’t the only people who inhabit the United States. there happen to be Jews, Muslims, atheists as well. its just so weird how Christians ride with anyone who says or pretends to be with the church. its really a shame that most Christians believe that everything is centered around them. i deal with my belief but i’m able to respect others who don’t feel the way i do. but to most Christians its just my way or the highway. and the country is suffering for it. this country is in the worst shape it has ever been in. the more the church gets involved, the worse it becomes. just my opinion…and thanks for responding Lynn.
Christians aren’t the only people who inhabit the United States.
True, but because I am a born again Christian, I selfishly care about all things concerning Christians.
You say that Christians believe everything revolves around them. Again, if this is your lifestyle and you truly believe in Jesus from your heart, it’s only natural to protect that which you sincerely believe in.
For me, Christianity is not a 9 – 5 job. I’m Christian 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
I do appreciate your perspective, though. We all have something to bring to the table.
[...] recently wrote an article about a group of political jerks and athiests who had the audacity to vote in favor of Islam as a great religion, and then voted AGAINST [...]
darkbrotha, I am with you in this case.
It is a pity that in her religious zeal, our dear Lynn has failed to once again realise that not all who appear before us as religious/christians are actually holy or right. Hitler being a prime example.
Hitler was not a muslim.
Christians have killed, rapped and massacred other human beings in their millions, especially in the time of the Crusades, and their latter day apologies have never being and would never be accepted by the descendants of the wronged who feel entitled to exercise their own form of retribution.
The arabs stole, raped and enslaved many millions of Africans during the Trans Saharan slave trade. And they were muslims.
The white people came and raped, massacred and stole about 23 millions Africans in their Trans Atlantic slave trade. And they were christians.
I am an African, and I know my history. You might understand where I am coming from in relation to religion.
Christians/jews and muslims. There is no difference to me.
Religion and politics could never mix, as it becomes a theocracy – which has proved to be a universal disaster throughout the history of Man.
Religionists -christian or muslims – passionately believe it has to be only their way, and we in the minority will be forever caught in the middle.
I agree Rollo
