New Rule in Hicktown for New Signers

Sheriff Lynn

I’m implementing a new rule/law here in Hicktown and it refers to new and/or first time signers.

If your first post on this blog is filled with name calling (of any Hicktowner or of the administrators), your post will be removed and you will be instantly banned. If your post goes to my moderation que and I notice that it is filled with negative comments against either the administrators or against any Hicktowners (regular readers and contributors of this blog), not only will I delete your post, thus blocking it from ever appearing here, but I will instantly ban you from here.

Don’t get it twisted. This is a personal blog, owned by a person. That person (Lynn)does not tolerate any nonsense on a blog that I own, pay for out of my own pocket, and spend great amounts of time and energy in updating.

You can waste your time writing a long, crazy rant if you want to but it will be banned out of here. Take that nonsense to somebody else’s blog. You have over 20,000,000 to choose from!

So basically, no dissent allowed? That’s what this seems to translate into. Long, crazy rants voicing opinions that support your specific agenda are permissible, but you gag and ban those who raise points that debunk–or attempt to debunk–your politically charged blogs. Understand that your blog has visibility, and that stifling healthy debate and dissent is a disservice to your readers.

    Lynn:

It is like coming into a new work environment, neighborhood, church, school, etc. Scan the environment, look at the culture see how people operate. To be understood, you must first seek to understand. I think we have to view these blogs with the same respect we have when you come into someone’s home or space for the first time until you get to know people. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto”. I don’t always agree, but I don’t always feel I need to voice my opinion either in this venue as you mentioned. Keep the faith sister. Thanks for taking the time to have a blog and keep us informed. It is my relaxation.

I have to laugh because the internet has created a lot of ‘cyberbullies’. These are people who nine times out of ten would not say HALF of what they type to your face. They typically are the ones who no one pays attention to in society and this is their way of getting attention and feeling worthy. So sad!

if this person slipped in again after he/she was banned, then i’m sure they can do it again. routers make that quite easy. i’ve seen it used many a time on blogs and messages boards. just a thought…

the point is that if you are looking at the IP address, routers can disguise that thus making it more difficult to ban.

@ Lynn “And she made the huge mistake of using her work email…..ooooh!” “This wouldn’t be Ms. “Harvard” would it?” LOL

Keep rolling up in here Ms. Harvard, as Deputy, I might have to alert them that you are abusing your work e-mail.

Oh my…somebody just got outted! Whenever you start mess in cyberspace, at least know that your identity is fully protected.

I’ll do them one step better. Be careful if you use DSL…it’s very easy to reverse trace the ip to the DSL…which often times is tied to the phone number at the house.

Cyberbullies kill me. There is nothing wrong with dissent, but there are rules to these houses of discussion and they are set by the person charged with maintaining the site. It’s not a democracy.
