Okay, Texas! I guess the state of Texas (which has been in competition with Florida and Georgia for producing the most rogue pastors) got nervous today when I posted about a nutty minister from Illinois who was busted for soliciting a prostitute via the internet.
Just relax Texas. You still are doing your part in producing shady characters who call themselves men of God!
Police have arrested a minister of a Plano mega-church for allegedly soliciting sex from a minor.
According to police records, Joe David Barron, of the Prestonwood Baptist Church, used the Internet to try and arrange sex with a child.
The 52-year-old was arrested in Bryan and was jailed on a $7,000 bond.
Bryan police Sgt. Shane Bush said Barron told him he was ashamed by the arrest.
I asked him what his initial thoughts were and he said, shame, guilt, grief — those were some of his words, Bush said.
Video of officers searching Barron’s car showed that the vehicle contained a box of condoms and a CD of religious music, among other items.
Prestonwood Baptist Church on Friday morning released the following statement:
“We are disturbed and saddened by the reports we have heard and we are praying for the Barron family. We are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation.”

Now, I just moved from Cali to Texas…I guess I went from the frying pan into the fire! Cali now has legal sex marriages and I’ve lost count of the number of perverted Ministers in Texas in the news since I’ve been here (less than 2 months).

THAT’S THE GOSPEL! That ALL HAVE BROKEN EVERY COMAND OF GOD! That’s why they need a savior. You people have just confused Religion with Jesus Christ, God of the Universe. It’s the Religious people that never could get it… apparently most here don’t either. If a person goes/attends a “church” where the people attending look and act “good”… you are in a place far closer to Hell than Heaven. Jesus hung with the Sinners… NOT THE GOOD FOLK!! But they were broken and honest about it and wanted a savior. It is repulsive that places like Prestonwood are so Lost and still don’t get it 2k yrs later. Still pullin the same Crap that the Pharisees did… “Playing” churchy church/religion. Until and unless the “church” (by that I mean true Christians not people going to watch the big show) starts showing up Eagerly willing to dump all their Filthy Garbage for all to see and being REAL… They will continue to have zero real impact on the world. Prestonwood is the place to go…NOT to Belong… Horrible place to try to find/follow Jesus. Look and find the openly hurting and broken, willing to give up their pride and be honest of their CURRENT sin… not just past.

Your post ultimately makes very little sense as it’s obvious you are attempting to coddle a pedophile.
1. Yes, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. That’s scripture
2. BUT, willful sin such as, sitting at a computer willfully planning to pick up a child or a prostitute, is a bit much.
You see, sir…It is the planning that is the problem. At no time did the nasty child loving alleged pedophile—do anything to stop himself. He obviously did not resist. The bible says that if we resist satan, satan will flee. Instead, “Minister” Barron put some condoms in his car and made his plans to see this child.
3. Such people are in fact “reprobates”. They are past even feeling guilty about their behavior (until caught, of course).
But don’t be fooled. We ARE forgiven for sinning—-but when we “practice” sin, as “Minister Barron” was doing, that is a different story. God says that he will turn such people over to their lusts of the flesh and the only hope for such a hypocrite is to repent or get prepared for a fiery hell.
4. No, Jesus did not hang out with sinners as a matter of course or fun. If you saw Him with a sinner, it was for the purpose of casting out demons. I would lead you to the story of the money changers in the temple. Jesus saw that group of sinners in there gambling and what did He do? He beat the living daylights out of them and cast them out of the temple bodily!
I would ask you all to look again at the sick post of mrbpostv (if you can make any sense of it). It’s obvious that he has the scriptures all screwed up. In his mind, there is nothing wrong with a grown man conspiring to pick up a child for sexually deviant purposes because after all we all are sinners. YEAH, RIGHT!
I’m glad you could make sense of that post Lynn, becasue I gave up after reading it twice and yes, I agree, the minister knew what he was doing when he logged on his computer and to throw the condoms in the car to boot, says he had a plan and surely was not a Godly one.
Let’s try a more remedial approach.
1. What Joe did is: A. Wrong B. Illegal C. Incredibly harmful on more levels than I can mention or dream of D. Ultimately worthy of Earthly/Regulatory Punishment E. Inexcusable in any and all case. F. Eternally worthy of death. Gosh, I would think that’s pretty freakin obvious. Great Opportunity to Beg and Pray for Mercy and a Substitute of one not deserving of Death to die in his place… if he will chose that!! time will tell?? All sin is Willful and in our..mine and YOUR nature. And the eternal consequence will be the same. If he or You could “stop yourself” from sinning, you wouldn’t need a savior. And your ARROGANCE to suggest that you are somehow better by GOD’S standards (not yours) will likely land you in the exact same place. But for the Grace of God (not any doing of yourself) are you any different. But eternity is not by your own standards, it is God’s.. and you my friend will be far short. If we are discussing legality or levels of damage that is one thing (addressed above). This is not an issue of me supporting Sin… It’s merely a convenient opportunity for you and others to feel better about yourself but using man made measurements because (unlike Joe), you either Haven’t been found out yet or you’re not guilty of THAT sin… Unless of course you use Jesus’ standard of Lust and not YOURS. In short, your best opportunity would be to admit you are no better than him and but for the grace of God you are capable of that AND FAR WORSE! Thank God I know I am. I did not say I disagreed…I just noted it appears that what mrbpostv is doing based on what I think my understanding of what he wrote was. Don’t be so quick to jump on me…I was just trying to help him be clear.
I have a great idea, CEP. Why not allow him to speak for himself and you stay out of it? How’s that?
What did I do to deserve that hostility? I was just hoping to make a muddled situation clearer. But on my way out I will leave with this…. While these men should be exposed and punished we should also keep in mind [scriptures deleted] and pray that he has Godly sorrow and finds repentance while in jail serving out his just punishment. Okay I am done.

I’m going to take it upon myself to delete your scriptures. The people here in HickTown know the bible and don’t need your condescension.
Cep sent me an apology via email. What I’m going to do is take a deep breath, remember that as a Christian I walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
Ya’ll KNOW I’m real. And I’m real enough right now to admit that I am 100% in the flesh right now. My husband is up in New York (his home town) attending a funeral.
