I remember my very first McDonald’s meal. I was about six or seven years old. My family (four boys, two girls and both parents) were in my father’s station wagon. I had fallen asleep in the back of the car and when I awakened, my brothers told me that I needed to eat my lunch. So I opened the bag and ate my McDonald’s meal. I still recall the smell of the hamburger and fries. The food tasted so much better then.
Well things have changed over the years. Like so many other big corporations, McDonald’s has become a little too political. You’d think they would not take strong political positions out of respect for their customers, wouldn’t you?
It looks like I have eaten my last McDonald’s french fry. And quite frankly, the food is not good for you anyway, so it’s just as well. Check this out:
A spokesman for McDonald’s restaurants says those who oppose same-sex “marriage” are motivated by hate.
Earlier this month, the American Family Association (AFA) called for a boycott of the hamburger giant because of the company’s promotion of the homosexual agenda. The AFA took issue with McDonald’s refusal to remain neutral in the culture war.
But in a recent Washington Post article, McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman suggested that those who oppose same-sex “marriage” are motivated by hate. However, AFA Founder Don Wildmon disagrees and says McDonald’s has bought into rhetoric used by homosexual activists.
“They’ve said for years and years that if you oppose their lifestyle, then you are a hateful person,” notes Wildmon. “We’ve given McDonald’s ample opportunity to stop supporting the homosexual agenda. They have said in no uncertain terms that they are going to go on supporting the homosexual groups and helping the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce go before Congress and lobby for a national right to marry,” he points out.
GO HERE to read the remainder of the article. Thanks for the memories, McDonald’s. But I’ve got to let you go.

WHY???? I just ate in one yesterday and didn’t see gay or lesbian on their menu? What on earth?
They can’t even make french fries that don’t have a chemical after taste. They need to focus on THAT issue and not worry about alternative lifestyles.
Their food does not taste the way it did in the past. It’s really a shame. And they as a corporations should know to never get involved in controversial issues.
No their food is not the same. Mickey D’s was my first job and back then we fried apple pies and there was none of this no trans fat nonsense. Food tasted like food and we were raised that it was a ‘treat’ and not to be eaten everyday. But they really need to leave this issue alone and keep it movin.
I’m a lil confused…
isn’t this strikingly similar to the stance y’all’s man, Obama, is taking??lol….in supporting same sex unions or whatever…and going so far as to use Scripture to support it? (e.g. when he said we should look to the sermon on the mount for the “proper” view towards same sex unions vs. “some obscure passage in Romans”….And he has also said as President he would not “remain neutral in the culture wars” but rather would use the ‘bully pulpit’ of the presidency to tell black churches, in particular, what they NEED to hear rather than what they wanna hear in reference to same sex issues….But ain’t nobody calling HIM to the carpet….
Long time, no see “WannabeReal”. Where you been? Lurking?
Barack Obama and Gay Marriage/ Civil Unions:
Although Barack Obama has said that he supports civil unions, he is against gay marriage. In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, “I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and
my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”
Barack Obama did vote against a Federal Marriage Amendment and opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.
He said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.
“Giving them a set of basic rights would allow them to experience their relationship and live their lives in a way that doesn’t cause discrimination,” Obama said. “I think it is the right balance to strike in this society.”

….And as I said, corporations have no business taking political stances. Obama is a politicain. McDonalds is the place I go to eat.
Who are you voting for, WannaBeReal? McCain, the habitual liar and war mongerer? Pick your poison, dude.
Hey! I guess i’ve been “lurking” cause i’m here pretty much everyday! (love it here in Hicktown…lol)…but can’t always remember my password to log in and comment so i have to go back to my email and pull it up….and sometimes don’t bother to go through all that…lol
LOL!!!!!!!!!! I ain’t drinking NOBODY”S poison (the Obama “kool-aid” or the McCain poison applejuice…LOL) if i can help it this year…LOL!!! I honestly think i may sit this one out—as much as i hate to have to come to that conclusion but i’ve heard Obama’s rhetoric on “Civil unions/gay rights etc etc” as well as McCains flip flopping hither and yon….and i’m just not impressed. (Although I can’t help but feel a certain sense of ‘pride’ being that I am Black male, with Obama’s achievements.) But for reasons too long to go into here, I just don’t trust “the vibe” I’m getting from a lot of research I’ve done on Obama–(although I do believe his presidency is “is destined to be” and probably prophetic).
So long story short, I just can’t bring myself to lend my vote to either in good conscience but I believe we are about to see some major political/economic/and SPIRITUAL earthquakes like we’ve never seen in our lifetimes—-and i fear a big part of that puzzle is going to be this election.
There are quite a few HickTowners who have indicated they won’t vote. I can’t do that. My ancestors fought too hard for my right to vote. I choose the lesser of the two evils.
A saying I heard recently really shook me, someone said, “sometimes we get to a point where God gives us the leaders WE DESERVE”….and I’m afraid this nation is getting just that with either Obama or McCain. What to do? what to do?? I guess pray for WHOEVER wins (as Scripture says we SHOULD do) that we might live peaceably—-though the tide seems to be turning against Christians on that count too.
Oh BELIEVE me, I understand the argument about our “ancestors fighting for our right to vote”….but it’s just that—THE RIGHT to vote. NO ONE can tell me that as an American I CANNOT VOTE….but on the flip side, I have a right and a responsibility to use my vote that is consistent (as best I can) with my beliefs as a Christian first and foremost). And if I see that a candidate is DIAMETRICALLY opposed to some things that I belief are truly SACRED on a number of issues, and has a WORLDVIEW that is inconsistent with Christianity (despite what they say with their mouth) then I reserve the right to withold my support and my vote.
Sadly, the lesser of “two evils” is still evil ultimately..lol
But don’t mind me, i’m pretty much soured on the whole political scene these days in general…lol….Usually they all turn out to be a big disappointment anyway after getting ‘the masses’ all RILED up and divided up in “teams” and “who’s on my side vs who’s on your side” and “who’s gonna win this year”etc etc etc etc …meanwhile they ALLLLLL belong to organizations like the Council on Foreign Relations which makes NO SECRET of it’s globalist worldview/agenda while letting us all go through the charade of thinking our particular candidates are really going to “change the world” (yea, but not like we think)…..but i digress…..lol
I banned McDonald’s a few months ago and have decided that I am not supporting them since they have chosen to support the gay agenda.
I will admit, as it stands right now, I am one of the hicktowners who will not vote this November. Though, as you stated wannabereal, I will vote for whomever the next president will be. Right now, they both appear shady however it is my strong belief that Obama will be the next president. Though he isn’t my choice he WILL receive my prayers.
I will continue to eat at McD’s. that means I’d have to give up my phone/DSL/job @ATT…they support gay marriage, and give domestic partnership benefits…I’d have to turn in my car (Ford Taurus)..they offer domestic benefits. I’m sure there are other companies that feels the same way minus the obligatory rainbow, pink triangle etc (and other glbt paraphernalia) hanging out front in their window- just not as upfront…as long as I don’t allow their propaganda to influence my convictions, I have no problem going to those places.
well, the one I go to (by my house) is a franchise… lol
I think most places give the domestic partnership benefits because they want to avoid lawsuits for discrimination. Although sexual orientation is still not a recognized ‘class’ under Title VII, some state laws do have provisions against discrimination based on sexual orientation. I know NYC has such a law, which is why many large companies in NYC just offer the benefits to them, in order to avoid lengthy lawsuits and negative media coverage.
true @diva
Protected classes:
What is a “protected class”?
Protected classes are groups that lawmakers specifically protect from discrimination. Today, they include anyone who suffers discrimination because of their age, sex, race, national origin, disability, creed or religion. Some states and and even cities, such as Cleveland, Ohio, protect people against other types of discrimination, such as sexual orientation discrimination.
A government must pass a law prohibiting discrimination against a particular class of people to create a new protected class.

Another thing to remember is that McDonald’s is a franchise and many of the owners of the restatraunts have nothing to do with corporate policy. This may inadvertantly hurt some of our Small Business owners who purchased a Mc Donald’s and pay them franchising fees in order to provide for their families. Just a thought.
*restaurant Excuse my spelling!! LOL
Cep makes a good point. And that’s part of why I would never advise anyone to buy into a franchise.
