James A. Ray and the sweat lodge fiasco

If I lacked a conscience—and if I were not a born again Christian, I’d be a multi-millionaire. I am so creative an imaginative that I guarantee you that I’d think of a money making scheme and would have people begging to pay me.

Now many of you have heard about the fact that this James Ray character (he’s been on Oprah’s show) is being questioned because two folks burned to death in a sweat lodge that James’ organization supports.

The idea for the sweat lodge came from American Indians who have sweat lodges as part of some of their spiritual rituals—-but no one dies when dealing with the Native Americans because the Native Americans know what they are doing and have been engaging in the ritual for centuries.

There is a HUGE difference between what the Native Americans offer in the sweat lodges as opposed to what James Ray’s group offers. Namely, you can sit in a Native American lodge FOR FREE but get ready to shell out some serious cash to sit in one of James Ray’s lodges.

The motivational speaker, author and self-help guru offers clients the promise of both spiritual and financial wealth if they sign on to his programs. The five-day “Spiritual Warrior” course during which the deaths occurred had about 50 participants who paid more than $9,000 each.

The culmination was the sweat lodge ceremony that ended in tragedy. Records obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday showed local fire officials responded to the same retreat for a person who fell unconscious during a Ray-led sweat ceremony in 2005.

Let’s get this straight. $9,000+ multiplied by 50 people? Where is my calculator? That’s $450,000+ dollars!

Um….Diva…..DeeLove…..Oregon Sister….

Do you think Jesus would get us if we thought up a quick scheme?

LOL! Heeee…..heeee…..heeeee

LOL. Jesus would probably only get us if people died as a result of the schemes.

I have learned ever since Oprah said that there is more than one way(path)to Jesus, that anything she endorses is suspect. There are so many people who will take those paths instead of following the word of God. The word says the way is narrow and the road to destruction is wide. All these people listening to Oprah and her ilk are on that road to destruction. I haven’t watched her show in years. I think she has sold out in such a huge way and I’d advise all who will hear to get away from her as quick as possible.

lynn: I wouldn’t call what we would do a scheme, but provide a safe service people want to pay for…but that the Indians aren’t charging and benefitting from their creation is a shame…The bible says “money answered all things”:)

Oprah just about done with her. Now, to me, she is profitting off of the misfortunes of Whitney, Michael Jackson (never had him on while he was living), Mike Tyson…just wondering why now?

James Ray is a jerk. I’ve met him personally as I am a chauffeur that has driven him personally. Just think of the most selfish person you know and time that by a million and you will have JAMES A. RAY – if your fat he will tell you that you have low self-esteem issues right to your face, woundnt you think that a person who sells “help” would try to be nice to someone who might have a low self esteem?

He is a FAKE people…wake up
