Yesterday, December 31 was my second wedding anniversary. We did not do anything special. I wanted to go out to dinner at my favorite restaurant (BSmith’s). Hubby did not feel well and wanted to stay home and play his computer games (LOL) while I blogged. We agreed to simply have a nice dinner at home. Of course he wanted me to cook.
I must say that I am a very happily married woman. My husband has a kind, gentle nature and is a perfect balance for me—Ms. Energetic, Inc. He is supportive of everything I do and brags on me to everyone. I wish a “Greg” on every woman!

Next year this time, for our third anniversary, we will be in Egypt. If you have ever been there, email me and let me know your experiences.
Today we’ve decided to stay in again and I’m making crab cakes and salad (a specialty in Maryland)and I’m going to put him to work making something. Brotherman had better do something other than enjoying my good food! LOL! Actually, I’m sending him to the store to make the purchase so that will be his contribution.
And what about you? How did you spend New Years?

American Idol
Tiger Woods
HAPPY NEW YEAR, LYNN!! I see you changed your hair …LOL
I spent New Year’s Eve in church. We had a service that started @ 10:00 and was over, of course, after praised the New Year in. It was wonderful.
Today, I am already at the Esther Ministries’ office. I am first going to start my devotion and then just “work” the rest of the day. We have a “True Love Waits” conference on Feb. 9th that I am preparing for.
The crab cakes and salad sounds really really good! Care to share the recipe?
It’s such a good omen that you are the FIRST to respond to this post because as you know, you were the first visitor of this blog!
Yes, I will definitely give you the recipe. I actually need to start a recipe section on this blog so we sistah-gurls can help each other out and share some good recipes.
Especially for ya’ll who are single. You need to know how to get to the man’s heart through his stomach. LOL!
@Lynn, Happy Anniversary to you and your husband. We wish you more of God’s favor and a Joyful New Year! May the Lord continue to bless you and your household.@Hicktown I wish each of you a blessed year! As for me, WE spent the New Year in totally peace and prayer. God has blessed me with a beautiful dream home. We are preparing to move to New home finally! Early Spring, After that we MUST do a LOT of traveling so this year My husband and I will be very busy and more vacationing across the world. Bless you and Hicktown!
Denise6,
THANKS! I am sooooo thrilled to hear about your dream home, girl! There is nothing like a beautiful home. This year my husband and I had an addition put on our home b/c we did not want to move and we wanted more space. It’s gorgeous so I know how you feel!
You and your hubby will be traveling? I hope Greg and I see you two in Egypt next New Years!
Lynn
Good morning Lynn, I have been visiting for days and telling everyone in North Florida about the blog. I joined yesterday.
My new year was the first not spent in church in 24 years. “Mr. Man” wanted to do something different this year, so we went downtown to see the fire works. Believe me, I saw alot more than fire works.
We will go into 09 at church.
This is going to be a great year.
Lynn, Thanks, What I am going to do for now on add on in my house.Girlfriend this moving thing is difficult. I will do all home improvements here lol. My husband has been there but I haven’t maybe we will see each other because I plan on doing all the stops. I have already planned to see more of the world no matter how big or how small. About those crab cakes? sounds so delicious! Please Lord, take a bite for me and say this for Denise. yummy
Unfortunately, I had to bring the New Year in on my job instead of in a service. As my mother reminded me this morning when I was grumbling, I still need to count up my blessings and give praise where praise is due! Thank you Mama! I am wishing each of you a blessed 2008. I am claiming positive change for my life in the upcoming year. There are some facets that require the old “out with the old and in with the new” slogan. The changes don’t involve a relationship, just some plain old revamping and personal renovating.
Lynn, it does me good to hear you talk about your husband in the positive manner that you do. I am single and I am surrounded by busted relationships. I am constantly asking the question (both with people I know and with celebrities), “Does anyone stay together anymore??” Your relationship sounds wholesome, respectful, and loving. I can only hope to meet a Greg of my own one day.
And btw, I’ll take seconds on the crab cakes. I just know that they are scrumptious!!
Hi Lynn, congrats on your anniversary. I praise dance so I danced for the Lord and then spent the rest of the New Year praising the Lord at church. We had a awesome time in the Lord. I want to heard all about Eygpt. I wanted to go there when I was living in Turkey and got pregnant with my third child and had to cancel my trip. I do hope to go one day soon. Enjoy your crab cakes. I will spent my day sacked out on my church looking at Lifetime sad but true (smile).
sorry I meant sacked out on my couch not church (ha ha)
Happy New year.
Did I hear someone say crab cakes!
Wow, sounds like you all had a great time on New Years. PJRNDON praise dancing sounds good! And DeeLove, your mother is right. Apostle Paul said for us to be content in whatever state we are in. So if you have the type of job that would require you to work on New Years, then bless the Lord!
Greg and I just got back from the store. Have you all ever heard of Whole Foods? It’s not in every state but it’s a gourmet market. We got the crab cakes, which we’ll make at about 4:00 this evening. Salad and Greg wants french fries.
I bought ginger bread cake, tasted it. It’s delicious!
Am I making anyone hungry? LOL!
Just enjoy your day everyone!
@Brazee,
Here is a hearty WELCOME TO HICKTOWN! You will find this to be a very supportive, loving community of people who are real. Fakers and snobs don’t hang around here for long cause the HickTown residents don’t play that. LOL!
You’ll enjoy it here!
Lynn
Happy Anniversary Lynn, and Happy New year to all!
I love crab cakes. So far, Tony’s on the pier (California) make the best. I’ve tried to make crab cakes, but have failed. Any chance of getting your recipe???
Happy New Year Hicktown! Lynn the Whole Foods Market is the bomb, if you can afford some of the prices. We have 5 here in the Houston area. You can go in there hungry, but by the time you sample all the food you leave out full. LOL!
@Mae – If I’m ever in California, I will have to try Tony’s on the Pier. Sounds good. Which city in California is he located?
@Praiser4Life – You are so right about Whole Foods being expensive. It’s the type of store that you should visit on special occasions (like today) or just to pick up a few items.
I finally just grabbed Greg’s arm and said, “Let’s get out of here before we go home broke”. LOL!
Yes, I love the Whole Foods store!
Happy new year to you and happy 2nd anniversary. You two be blessed, enjoy and love each other ’till the end of time.
Hey Blogmama!
Happy New Year’s. Contemplated going out, but when these suburban idiots started shooting at 8:11p.m. with what sounded like an automatic-I decided to stay in.
New Year’s was brought in quietly and I hope it goes out the same!
bria
Happy New Year Hicktown. May this be a year of blessing to all.
Wow,
It feels so good to see so many HickTowners checking in! Keep it going. I’m enjoying the positive energy.
Lynn
Hicktowners..If you’re ever in California, I highly recommend Tony’s on the Pier in Redondo Beach. They have the best clam chowder and crab cakes I’ve ever tasted. See their website http://www.oldtony.com
Deelove,Look up my sister, I cant wait to see you with your new spouse and when you meet him you better let HickTown know! You never know you may be telling us about where you are going for the next New Years Eve!lol Be Blessed!
Thanks for that, Denise6! I have DeeLove’s email address and am going to email her some postive words of wisdom.
Lynn
Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary Lynn! I stayed in, washed my hair and caught up on some episodes of Cheaters. How very exciting, huh? LOL
Happy New year Lynn and Congratulation on your 2nd wedding anniversary. I spent the new year in Jacksonville Fl. with my daughter and son-in law and, my precious (Gabby) grand baby (16 months old). My husband came down yesterday so we baby sat while they went to Watch Night Service.
@ Diva – Cheaters is funny. I know you got a good laugh there.
@ JJBrock – You wre with the grandbaby? LOL! Diaper changing on New Years, huh? LOL
Thanks Denise and Lynn!! I hope I didn’t come across as sounding sappy with my earlier comments. I am just really looking forward to some positive change in 2008. Denise, when Mr. Right shows up, y’all are going to get tired of hearing about him from me!! Thanks folks for keeping it real.
Praying for a blessed year for everyone…
My prayer is that all of your goals are reached before 2009.
And Lynn, Happy Anniversary for you and your husband.
@ DeeLove – Check your email
@ Chelle – Happy New Years! Have not seen you in a while and have missed you! I did a write up recently and included your blog in my write up. Thanks for your well wishes.
Update on the crab dinner:
Greg made the crab cakes (I’m better at making soups and gumbos).
I made the salad.
Dinner was great. I’ll post the recipe some time this week. Crab cakes are easy to make and there are a trillion recipes out there.
Lynn
Happy New Year Everyone!
