happybirthdayI just remembered that Hicktown’s birthday is July 13th.  I’ll never forget my first post back in 2007.  I had stepped out on faith and dedicated my very first post to teaching others how to create and grow a successful blog!

GO HERE to see my first post

Keep in mind that I had a readership of “zero” at that time. BUT….Deputy Monica came in and was my very first visitor.  I’ve known Monica for 10 years now.  I’ve also known Sister Smith for 10 years.  Sister Smith has been to my home and had dinner with me at my dining room table.  That was during my free and single days.

Any other women here lurking from my Christian women’s website that I developed back in the pre-blog days?  If so, identify yourselves.

In any event, I’m now averaging 1,500 – 1,600 visitors per day.  Don’t believe it?  No problem.  Just scroll down to my Sitemeter.  It’s open and free for you to check out.  Hicktown is healthy and I’m comfortable saying that with my following, it’s a successful blog—just as I predicted it would be back in July, 2007.  The numbers were gained via hard work and consistent blogging.  I have never received any media attention and I’ve never joined any blogging groups or organizations.  So I got my readership the old fashioned way.  I earned it.

Some time in fall or winter, I’m going to introduce BlackPowerLine blog. I’ve already reserved the name.  That one will concentrate solely on ways to uplift and empower the black community.  DeeLove told me a while back that she will help with the moderation.  That one will be different from Hicktown because my husband told me that I should not be as strict with that one.  And I should only ban trolls.

And for those of you who were with me when I had the Christian women’s website, stay tuned.  In winter, that one will be turned into a blog that concentrates solely on issues regarding women.  So all in all, I’ll have 3 blogs with 3 different focuses.  Hicktown will remain as is—a catchall blog that discusses any variety of topics.

So happy birthday Hicktown and thanks to Hicktowners for following!
