Something is very sad when a man grows up but continues his childish ways.
Former DC mayor, Marion Barry was famously arrested for smoking crack back in the 80’s. He recently needed a new kidney, which he received (what a blessing!) And you would think that with a chance at a new start in life, that this individual would move on towards positivity.
Instead, he’s still getting himself arrested. The saying is true: There is no fool like an old fool:
Ward 8 Councilmember and former mayor Marion Barry was arrested Saturday night by a U.S. Park Police officer and charged with misdemeanor stalking.
According to Park Police spokesperson Sgt. David Schlosser, the incident leading to the arrest took place at around 8:45 p.m. An officer on patrol in Anacostia Park noticed a pair of cars in close proximity; the driver of one of the cars attempted to get the officer’s attention, and the officer subsequently pulled both cars over near the intersection of Anacostia Drive and Good Hope Road SE. The officer spoke first to the driver who had made the summons, an unidentified woman, and “she indicated there was some sort of discussion, dispute, angst,” Schlosser says.
The officer then spoke to the driver of the second car, Barry. “Apparently,” Schlosser says, “because of that conversation, [the officer] found sufficient cause [for Barry] to be placed under arrest.” Schlosser did not know if any other persons were in the vehicles, but said that Barry was the sole person charged in connection with the incident.
I formally grant Marion Barry access into the Bozo the Clown Awards section of Hicktown. What a jerk!

Can you believe after all his mess, he is working as a city councilman??? WHY would people (we) put him into ANY position of power after all the corrupt things he’s done to that city?
I posted this on my blog too. It’s high time that this man grow up. I am amazed that the voters in his constituency have given him so many chances to rehabilitate himself and he has literally kicked in the guts each time. He has remained in the news for all the wrong reasons. Marion Barry is a disgrace.
He needs to quickly exit stage left and fade into the sunset, never to be heard from again. Just make him go away!
The old saying is, if you rob Peter to pay Paul you can always rely on the vote of Paul. How ELSE can you explain why the people of DC put this clown back into the mayoral office, then into a council seat? For better or for worse, our system allows for this foolishness and for clowns like this to remain in the political spotlight.
