Donte Stallworth vs. Mel Hall, Sentencing

I just received the following email from a Hicktowner, “SG”.

Donte Stallworth, NFL player, 28 years old, DUI, struck and killed a pedestrian.  To his credit, unlike many of his colleagues, he does the right thing. He immediately a stop, calls 911, tries to help, admits he was drinking, works with police, etc.  He lives in FL

He settles with the family out of court and gets a  plea deal of 30 days in Jail …

Mel Hall, 48 year old former baseball player is tried for molesting and/or raping under ages women (it seems like 3 or 4), he doesn’t take the stand, etc.

He gets 45 years. He lives in TX……

I realize each system has the ability to define their own laws, but some men who commit these crime, as you well know, get much more.  But the system is broke.

I’ll NEVER forget this:  I went to the University of Missouri in 1980. During new employee orientation, one of the hospital lawyer’s was part of the orientation. He was giving us some dos and don’ts when dealing with patients and their records. Okay no problem. Then he said something that made everyone’s mouth drop and the room went silent, he said and I quote:

If you make a mistake, it’s better to KILL the patient.

He went on to say that the hospital and others pay out based on a formula of age, occupation, and the average income to about age 65 (average age for men at the time).

We were all shocked. The room was completely quite.

The HR person tried to clean it up, but it was too late.

The fired him the next day……..

The value of human life has just gotten worse…..

Thanks, SG!  Hicktowners, if you email me and it reads almost like an article, do not be surprised if I post it.

I have heard SG’s comments several times about the medical industry. Makes sense to me. Also, I understand intentional vs unintentional crimes BUT… the fact that Donte’ received 30 days for killing a HUMAN (not saying he should have received more) and Michael Vick got 2 yrs for killing DOGS (not saying it should have been less) doesn’t add up…. THE SYSTEM IS FLAWED!!!
