I was tempted to put this in the “Who You Callin a …” category since Sarah Palin stated that she is going to represent “the Joe Six-Pack American.” SOURCE
What is that exactly? Isn’t that like some sort of redneck slur for the average, hard working American?
Anywho, if you need a good laugh, please read the source article I posted above. In it, Gov. Palin complains about what she calls, “gotcha journalism” tactics (undoubtedly referring to her interviews with Charles Gibson & Katie Couric).
“I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago,” Palin said when asked by Hewitt whether the Gibson and Couric interviews felt like “pop quizzes designed to embarrass” her. “I’m going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just say that’s okay, those are good testing grounds. That makes somebody work even harder. It makes somebody be even clearer and more articulate in their positions. So really I don’t fight it. I invite it.”
Um, since she made that wisecrack about Joe Biden being elected to Congress when she was in the second grade, surely Gibson and Couric have a few years up on her as well in the field of journalism, so what exactly has changed in the industry in that short span of time?
All I know is at 9 pm, I will be sitting on my couch watching this debate with much interest, as it promises to be some live entertainment.

Now Diva,
Last time you and I both fell asleep.
I am going to try my darndest to stay up for this one though.
I missed the first half, but from what I could see, she didn’t tank like I thought (and had hoped) she would. She was a lot more clearer in delivering her thoughts and sticking to the topic at hand. Biden still walked the dog on her!
No, she didn’t tank, but I have never heard so many gonnas, havetas, kindas, getchas, heckas, needtas… Her conversation and message didn’t include anyone America, except Hockey mom’s and Joe six packs. I thought I was gonna fall out of my chair when she said “energy is the key to National Security”. And…”Castro Brothers, drill baby drill, all of the above approaches”.
I didn’t fall asleep this time. LOL She did better than I expected. I don’t understand how some of these pundits though are declaring her the winner. I felt anytime she was asked a question that either she didn’t know the answer to or did not feel comfortable answering, she simply deflected and changed the subject.
I was surprised Gwen Ifill didn’t do more to keep her on topic. Not once did she answer the question about McCain’s tax policies (which McCain by the way never answered in his debate with Obama).
She also kept referring to Alaska as an energy producing state. And? There are others like Texas, but she never mentioned them. It’s as if she lives in some Alaskan bubble and does not recognize life or anything outside of Alaska.
I also didn’t like the way Palin kept trying to make these catty digs and spoke with such familiarity using the gotchas and kindas like Oregonsistah points out. That did/does absolutely nothing for me. It only made me think of how embarrassed I will be if she does manage to weasel her way in office with her talking like that. How could any world leader take someone like that seriously?
Also, if someone simply fines her for every time she uses the word ‘maverick’, that alone would solve our economic crisis.
@divawidfevah: As my mom says it is in God’s hands. He sets one man up and another man down. We have to pray. On one news show someone was saying about her energy and enthusiam and how Biden was boring. So the female anchor said that would be America, we would prefer having someone with “energy and being wrong”, versus “boring and right”. Also her saying she has “executive experience” gag me with a spoon. ie. mayor of alaska, “now she’s a business owner”, and governor (less than 18 months). I am about as tired of her using that “executive” word as I am with maverick. I don’t watch it much, but I can just see how happy Elizabeth is going to be on the View today:)
Joe Biden was clearly a master at his field. I was tickled with how Sarah Palin ducked and dodged questions as she announced she would “not” answer the questions the way the moderator wanted her to….and as she inappropriately kept returning to the topics of her choice.
@ Oregon Sister – I agree with you on her speech. Very inappropriate for such a high office. I don’t want a VP who uses terms like “shout out” and who—-in a public, professional forum, does not know to use “going to” instead of “gonna”, etc., etc. Can you imagine her in a high diplomatic meeting speaking slang and 2nd rate English?
lynn: Yes, I can imagine, because she actually believes the hype about herself. Remember she doesn’t care about anyone accept “joe six pack” America. She is a “maverick” with “executive” experience, so she will do exactly what she wants and will make announcement similars to last night and make fun of “harvard educated terminology” because I am just a “hockey mom” with a special needs child, that puts America first, and “loves ths country” so “whad da ya think about that, you high “falootin diplomats” who needta be brought down a notcy?. Not sure what the redneck terminology is for “ebonics”, but she has it on lockdown:)
ladies: when you get a chance check out the coverage at the huffington post VP debate video highlights

I forgot about this one:
10:14 – Jason Linkins: Palin follows the needle-scratch-on-the-record riposte “Say it ain’t so, Joe, there ya go again” (TWO CLICHES for the price of ONE!) with a promise that Biden’s wife will be rewarded in Heaven for being a teacher. This made me ALL KINDS OF UNCOMFORTABLE.
Thanks for that site. And yes, I was uncomfortable too about that remark she made about Biden’s wife going to heaven. Next she’ll be boasting that she helps the “big G” out by keeping the roster of who’s going to heaven in her spare time.
It is interesting though to hear that many of the answers she gave were wrong, but she sounded so convincing and probably convinced herself in the process.
And is it me or did she call him “Senator O’Biden” twice?
yes she did and “talibani”.
Never underestimate the “Gee Whiz” routine. As I try to look at Palin’s performance last night through the eyes of a White (lower) middle-class voter eyes I must say that she may have had a breakthrough. All the folksy talk (in lieu of real knowledge) might just lure in a few conservative Democrats. I think the race will be really, really close.
Yes Mes Deux Cents, much too close for comfort. That debate is going to cinch her title as America’s Darling.
The sad part about her speech practices and abilities is the fact that Obama and Michelle would have been shot down in the press for speaking the way that she did. Remember when Jesse Jackson ran for President and he caught all kinds of flack for his dialect??
ladies: came across a site that gave a good commentary of the debate http://www.averagebro.com. Wow. Especially on Gwen Ifill that let Palin run right over her. I noticed, Palin never acknowledged her during the debate. Biden did. You can also find an image of Palin someone created in field.
