Congrats to Joshua Packwood: Morehouse College’s First White Valedictorian
May 17, 2008A couple of weeks ago I was listening to the radio and heard that a white man named Joshua Packwood had won Valedictorian this year at Morehouse College (a primarily black male college in Georgia). I meant to do a story about it and forgot.
Then a few days ago Deputy Diva emailed me to tell me she was going to cover the story. However, with events going on with her grandmother (birthday celebration), Diva won’t have time to cover it.
No problem. I found a link to an excellent coverage of this story over at the ShallowNation blog. Why reinvent the wheel when the story has been covered?

Thanks for posting this for me Lynn.
I am happy this young man stayed true to himself and went on to succeed at Morehouse. I’m also happy that although some of the students did not so much agree with this young man pursuing his studies there because of his skin color, that they were dignified and gentlemanly about it. It is really nice that the media could show (for once) that we are not all barbaric when we may not agree with something.
