The New York Daily News is reporting the following breaking news…

The Rev. Al Sharpton has been arrested at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in a protest over the 50-bullet shooting of an unarmed black man.

Sharpton, two survivors of the shooting and the slain man’s fiancee were arrested Wednesday in one of a series of demonstrations calling for a federal investigation into the November 2006 shooting.

This video is just shocking and appalling and a fine example of why some people should not bring children into this world.  This little boy stole his grandmother’s car and went on a joyride where he crashed into several cars and 2 mailboxes.  He slightly resembles my 6 year old nephew and if he ever got caught doing anything like this, I would so beat his behind. 

You also have to wonder about the other 7 year old he was with when he stole his grandmother’s car.  He says that his friend smokes cigarettes and says “It’s fun to do bad stuff.”  Who is watching these children?  Where is a 7 year old getting cigarettes from?  What is going on with our future generations?

    I truly hope that it’s not true that a black woman is the one who called the police pretending to be a young teenager being abused by the Warren Jeffs cult. Yet, that is what it appears to be, ya’ll. I’m upset because black women cannot afford to be stuck in the middle of this mess. The racist Jeffs cult already has a problem with blacks based on his bizarre teachings.

Having said that, I’m still happy that the cult was raided because the children indeed are being abused:

Texas Rangers participated in the arrest of a Colorado woman who allegedly pretended to be a girl locked in a basement. The Rangers were in the state as part of their investigation into the Texas polygamy custody battle, local police told ABC News.

It was unclear if the arrest was related to the phone call from a woman who claimed to be a 16-year-old girl, a phone call that sparked what has become one of the largest child custody cases in U.S. history.

Officials in Texas raided a polygamist compound and took 416 children into custody after an abuse hotline received a series of phone calls from the purported teen who said she was being held at the compound. The girl, who called herself Sarah, said she was being physically and sexually abused by her adult husband, court documents say.

Texas child protection lawyers have said they believe the girl does exist, even though they have not found her.

But ABC News has learned that Texas Rangers flew to Colorado Springs, Colo., and participated in the arrest of a 33-year-old woman who was charged with filing a false report.

The FBI also told ABC News it is assisting local police in the investigation. Colorado Springs police said in a statement that “The Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs Wednesday as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas.”

Colorado Springs police said they arrested Rozita Swinton last night on local charges of pretending to be a girl locked in a basement, claiming abuse and calling authorities for help.

Local police said Swinton had been under investigation for some time on that accusation, but police made an immediate arrest after the Texas Rangers became involved.

“This arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in Colorado Springs in February of this year,” Colorado Springs Police said in a statement. “The Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs yesterday as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas. They left and have not filed any charges on Rozita Swinton as of this time. ”

ABC News was unable to reach Swinton or her lawyer for comment.

I just heard from a very reliable source that Katie Couric will be stepping down from her position within the next few months.

For the life of me, I cannot imagine what possessed her to leave her stable position on the Today show to go anchor for CBS. She was an awful anchor, the worst I have ever seen. And quite frankly, I never watched the full program. Too boring. She was not a good “fit”.

Hopefully she will go the way of others who produce occasional “specials” because I really am tired of looking at her and she is not, in my opinion, a good interviewer or reporter. I find her obnoxious and not very well versed or informed during most of her interviews.

UPDATE #2 @ 8:30 p.m.:

Barack Obama’s campaign tonight is demanding a full investigation of reports that his passport files at the State Department were viewed without authorization.

This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, even from an Administration that has shown little regard for either over the last eight years. Our government’s duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes. This is a serious matter that merits a complete investigation, and we demand to know who looked at Senator Obama’s passport file, for what purpose, and why it took so long for them to reveal this security breach, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.

Sources also report that the inspectors believed that the breach boiled down to innocent “nosiness” and therefore they did not report it to Obama.

Nothing annoys me more than when a person tries to insult my intellect. A bell hop WATCHED the carnival clown, Tommy Weeks, Jr. beat, kick and stomp the living daylights out of Bynum and he even pulled him off of her to keep him from stomping her to death.

Also, a woman who worked for this clown in the past told her friends that he allowed his explosive temper to get the best of him and he gave HER a beat down.  When questioned, Weeks insulted the audience’s intelligence by saying that he had grabbed the woman’s arm and that’s how she ended up with all those bruises. 

Over and over again, Weeks lied with a straight face. Again and again he fibbed and squirmed and LIED that he had not beaten Bynum. In fact, he insinuated that she had beat her own self for attention.

This liar even went so far as to claim that he had “proof” that she was not beaten by him. He questioned why it took her so long to report it to the police. Now can you believe this jerk? What an awful human being.

Lying appears to be his m.o.  Remember that his real name is Thomas Weeks, Jr. but he lies that it’s Thomas Weeks III.  Pathetic being, he is.

And now this woman beating scum bag with the explosive temper admits guilt. Unbelievable.

The husband of televangelist Juanita Bynum has pleaded guilty to assaulting her, and must now serve a three-year sentence on probation.

Thomas W. Weeks III, known to his followers as Bishop Weeks, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Fulton County Superior Court to a single count of aggravated assault.

Judge T. Jackson Bedford sentenced Weeks to probation and said he must also undergo violence and anger counseling and complete 200 hours of community service that cannot be church related.

   Fidel Castro announced his resignation as president of Cuba and commander in chief of Cuba’s military Tuesday, according to a letter published in the state-run newspaper, Granma.The resignation ends nearly a half-century of iron-fisted rule that inspired revolutionaries but frustrated 10 U.S. presidents.

Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte said the U.S. embargo on Cuba will not be lifted in the near term.

Castro revealed his plans without notice by publishing a letter in the middle of the night in state-run newspaper Granma.

“I will not aspire to, nor will I accept the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief,” Castro wrote. “I wish only to fight as a soldier of ideas. … Perhaps my voice will be heard.”

I know that Castro’s brother is presently in control of Cuba but I often wonder what his sons are doing and whether or not they are interested in taking over.

X17online.com is reporting that Britney Spears attempted suicide Wednesday evening around 10 p.m. and that convoy of police motorcycles arrived at the home along with an ambulance and a white van shortly after 1 a.m. TMZ.com reports that people inside the home and police say there was not a suicide attempt.Both celebrity news sites report that Spears has been taken away in an ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

TMZ.com has reported that the incident was not a suicide attempt, but that Spears’ private psychiatrist called the police and recommended that Spears be committed temporarily. TMZ.com also reports that Spears’ mother Lynne Spears is against committing the pop star, while friend Sam Lufti supports the doctor.

Spears’ friend Sam Lufti, who was at the scene told an X17online.com photographer that “everything is fine,” and her mother Lynne also reported, “Britney is fine,” but neither elaborated on the alleged suicide attempt.

You know, some people may find this funny. I don’t because she clearly is unhappy and mentally ill and she clearly is not taking her medication. So many people who have mental illness are in denial, believing they can handle the problem themselves, but they deteriorate. Let’s hope she is able to get some real help this time.

Although I sometimes complain about the U.S., the truth of the matter is, I certainly would not want to live anywhere else. America has actually been very good to me. Everything I’ve wanted and worked for, I’ve gotten. No one has ever tried to stop me based on gender or race or anything else.

The women in Saudi Arabia are pitiful. After 75 years, they finally have been given the basic human right to drive. Can you imagine that? I love the freedom of hopping in my car and going about my business. Check this article:

Government officials in Saudi Arabia have confirmed a landmark decision to give women the right to drive in that country. The move would see an end to more than 75 years of curtailing women drivers, though its being characterized by some as a way to forestall campaigns for greater freedom by women.

The Saudi royal family has stopped short of granting women driving privileges for years, saying that there wasn’t full public support for the change. Recently though, slightly more progressive attitudes towards women have worked their way into the public consciousness, and more importantly the royal court.
