User Names on this Blog
Lynn | July 27, 2009 | 8:56 am | AboutRules | Comments closed

When thinking of a user name to use, make sure it is pronounceable and sound real.

Someone signed up here recently with the user name,  “n152sm”.  He could just have easily have used the name “Ned” or Nathan”.  Of course, as a result of his weird user name, I was able to do a search on him and discover he has an obsession with President Obama.

But just know that I’m creating a new rule.  If your user name is not one that can be pronounced, I will delete it and probably ban your IP address.  There is just something creepy about folks who won’t use a real user name.

Reminder:  Don’t sign up here with “Anon” or “Anonomous” either. That will get the name deleted and you banned.

Some things are common sense but apparently common sense is not so common.  This is a community and as such, you need a name that can be pronounced.  Not numbers. Not symbols.

Reminder to Lurkers Considering Signing this Board
Lynn | July 24, 2009 | 12:09 pm | AboutRules | 2 Comments

Please read the rules/comments policy of a board before you sign. And if a board has no rules, you are left to the mercy of the owner—forced to figure out what is acceptable or not.

This board has specific rules which you need to read before signing here. One rule is that if your first post here is an insult, you are immediately banned out of here.

I just banned “Diamond Gem” for coming in here insulting me and other Hicktowners by questioning if we are truly Christians.

Take that mess somewhere else. I won’t entertain it here.

The User name “Anonymous” Not Allowed on Blog
Lynn | February 12, 2009 | 1:47 pm | AboutRules | 6 Comments

I’ve said this before but will say it again. I don’t allow the user name “Anonymous”, “Annon” or any form of that name to be used on this blog.

Someone today signed up under that name and when I politely emailed her to ask her to sign up under a different name, she got an attitude.

It’s my blog. I get to make the rules. I would be more than happy to give a person a user name if they cannot think of one. “Annon”, “Anonymous”, and the like bothers me. Sorry if you are offended by that.

Scripture Posting Reminder
Lynn | October 21, 2008 | 5:39 pm | AboutRules | Comments closed

Long ago, during the Juanita Bynum – Tommie Weeks, Jr. fiasco I made a rule regarding scriptures.

I was clear that no one is to post a scripture without an accompanying explanation of how the scripture relates to the topic at hand. First of all, not everyone visiting this blog is Christian and not everyone even knows how to look up scriptures. Secondly, not everyone interprets scriptures the same way.

 Here are the steps:

1.  Post the scripture chapter and verse

2.  Post the actual words from the scripture you are referencing

3.  Explain how that scripture relates to the topic

I was clear that if you drop a scripture down in here in hopes (?) that people can read your mind, the scripture will be deleted.

DJenk dropped a scripture in here today about Halloween being a Romans 14 issue without any further explanation.

That would be like someone saying that people no longer have to attend church because it’s a Colossians:2 issue. What in the HECK does that mean?

If you are reading this DJenk, I’ll give you 24 hours to explain yourself or I’m removing the scripture.

The long and short of it is…..there is no scripture on planet earth that will justify celebrating a wicked holiday. If that’s the case, I’m sure someone can find one to justify fornication and adultery, etc.

Thanks.

New Rule in Hicktown for New Signers
Lynn | September 22, 2008 | 7:05 pm | AboutRules | 15 Comments

Sheriff Lynn

I’m implementing a new rule/law here in Hicktown and it refers to new and/or first time signers.

If your first post on this blog is filled with name calling (of any Hicktowner or of the administrators), your post will be removed and you will be instantly banned. If your post goes to my moderation que and I notice that it is filled with negative comments against either the administrators or against any Hicktowners (regular readers and contributors of this blog), not only will I delete your post, thus blocking it from ever appearing here, but I will instantly ban you from here.

Don’t get it twisted. This is a personal blog, owned by a person. That person (Lynn)does not tolerate any nonsense on a blog that I own, pay for out of my own pocket, and spend great amounts of time and energy in updating.

You can waste your time writing a long, crazy rant if you want to but it will be banned out of here. Take that nonsense to somebody else’s blog. You have over 20,000,000 to choose from!

Addendum to HickTown Laws
Lynn | September 8, 2007 | 1:56 am | AboutRules | 1 Comment

As new people sign on here at HickTown, I find that from time to time I need to amend the Town Laws. Please note that you are encouraged and welcome to add a link to your website or blog when you fill out the comment form BUT …

I do check out all links. If I discover that you are providing a link to a site that is unlawful, sinful or wicked in any way, I will delete that link. Your comment will be allowed to go through (as long as it’s appropriate) but the link will definitely be deleted.

Also, satanism and prostitution and promiscuity are NOT  the purpose of this blog. PLEASE go the the “About Blog” section to read the purpose of this blog.  It is for the shining a light on current events in general and for the rebuilding of the black community in particular.  If you have an agenda outside of the stated agenda set by the blog administrator,  I ask you to take your agenda elsewhere please.  You won’t fit into Hicktown.

ALL first time commenters have their comments moderated so there is no need trying to slip through. HickTowners, help me out. If I miss a link but you find one that is inappropriate, let me know right away.

Posting Scriptures
Lynn | August 24, 2007 | 4:27 pm | AboutRules, Administration, Shepherds Astray | Comments closed

This is a word to the people who are coming here to post scriptures:

a. Scriptures are 100% welcome AND encouraged

b. Not everyone who comes here is a Christian and therefore you cannot assume they can comprehend your scripture

c. Even Christians may not understand the relevance of your scripture to a particular story

d. Therefore……IF you post a scripture, you will need to explain its relevance to the article about which the scripture is being posted.

e. Note that in the future, any scripture posted without an accompanying explanation as to how it relates to an article will not be displayed.

HickTown’s Law of the Land
Lynn | July 16, 2007 | 2:33 am | AboutRules | Comments closed

Welcome to HickTown. A well organized, peaceful town is a town whose boundaries are drawn and laws clearly spelled out. With that in mind, here goes.

Your first comment will be approved before appearing.

Watch your language– We like to keep our streets clean here in HickTown so please keep the language appropriate.

No personal attacks, slanderous, or libelous remarks – This is for your own protection, as blog owners are not responsible for comments made by bloggers who visit their sites. If you slander someone, you alone are open to being sued.

Remember that this is a community. As this blog grows, so will potential disagreements, etc. Let’s handle them all in a civil manner.

Like any community, we attract all types. That’s fine as long as they follow the rules here.

Illegal aliens (trolls) are not allowed in HickTown and will be hauled out of here, beaten and left on the side of the road with no medical attention!

Updated on  8/24/07 – I’ve had to add another one.  Since I am the one who paid a designer to create this blog. And since I’m the one who paid a hosting company to host this blog. And since I’m the one who pays all expenses pertaining to this blog, I can say that I am the “Sheriff” of Hicktown.  As Sheriff, I reserve the right to delete any remark at any time for any reason.  And if you insult me, chances are,  it will be deleted.

You won’t insult me in my own home where I pay the mortgage and you won’t insult me on a blog that I paid for out of my own pocket.  Don’t like it? No problem.  Pay for your own blog.

To all others who follow the law, enjoy your time here!

Mission Statement:

HicktownPress will focus on topics dealing with current events, news, pop culture and general interest stories from a conservative perspective. Particular concentration will be on topics aimed at strengthening, uplifing, educating and uniting the black community.
