You know. I still stand by the general belief that the boys in the Jena Six case were treated unfairly. I’ll always stand by that.
I was very disappointed today while listening to a talk show and learning that Bryant Purvis, one of the Jena Six (who apparently moved to Texas) has been arrested again.
A defendant in the Louisiana “Jena Six” case was arrested after allegedly slamming a student’s head into a bench at his new school in Texas, police said.
The defendant, Bryant R. Purvis, 19, was arrested on a charge of assault causing bodily injury Wednesday after an altercation at Hebron High School. It began because Purvis believed a student had flattened his tires, Sgt. John Singleton said.
Purvis was released from jail Thursday morning.
According to a police report, the student felt Purvis come behind him and “grab his neck with one hand and begin to choke him.” Purvis then said, “Don’t you ever mess with my car again” and slammed the student’s head into the bench of a table and walked away, the report said. The student’s left eye was injured, but Singleton didn’t know whether he needed medical attention after seeing the school nurse.
GO HERE to read the remainder of the story. I’m just disgusted—equally as disgusted as when they posed with all that money that people had donated

American Idol
Tiger Woods
I had all types of issues with the Jena 6 group. I do agree they were treated unfairly but I still feel that what THEY DID was not right. I also had issues with them getting all that money and not fully paying their legal fees. but I think what put me on full tilt about them was seeing them at the BET Awards like they did something that other black kids should be proud of.
I am disgusted that this group of black kids jumped this one white kid (The reasons did not justify the act), I was disgusted that they got money for it, I was disgusted that half of America though they deserved all the fame and glory they got(because the world is so unfair to them…yea), and I was disgusted that they were walking the Red Carpet like they were Denzel or Will Smith or someone of character.
They just told black kids in America that no matter what injustices happen to you, retaliation is acceptable, and you get money and fame for it!
I am not at all surprised by this turn of events…
Regina, you took the words out of my mouth.
So now every time someone does something to you your going to have to beat up on someone ??? Guess what, he’s going to be doing a lot of fighting in life because life isn’t always fair or just.
At the rate this kid is going I see a future for him in jail if he doesn’t listen to someone.
These foolish BOYS were givin a chance to really change their future in life.
But their real character continues to show them for the thugs they are.
Keeping them out of jail a few months ago may only be temporary for them.
I do not agree with what start all this mess.
The problem with the Jena 6 is they almost killed someone. People need to learn there are degrees of things. Almost killing someone isn’t the same as hanging a noose in a tree.
Fit the punishment with the crime. Everyone wants to cry out that they are treated unfairly when in trouble. What happened in Texas just proves that the Jena 6 were criminals, but lets whine an d and cry to get them off so they can do it again and again.
This may be slightly off topic here, but can someone please explain why he is 19 years old and STILL in high school in the first place? Obviously there is some sort of cognitive challenge going on with him, as this is the same clown who posed on a futon he covered with money and took pictures to upload on his myspace along with the infamous shots of him with wads of cash in his mouth.
He evidently likes to fight, but apparently doesn’t know his 3 R’s to get out of school. They should send him over to Iraq since he likes to fight and obviously serves no constructive purpose to anyone in Texas or Jena.
