Bishop Thomas Weeks Turns Himself In!

Update #6 -The husband of televangelist Juanita Bynum turned himself in to authorities Friday to face charges after a confrontation in which his wife was badly bruised.Bishop Thomas Weeks III, the founder of Global Destiny churches, surrendered at the Fulton County Jail to face charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats.He declined to speak to reporters as he entered the jail SOURCE

It’s about time that this woman beating, woman kicking, woman stomping “bishop” turned himself in. Now I look forward to finding out about those “mitigating circumstances” that he believes excuses his criminal behavior.

According to this story, he hopes to reconcile after this is all settled, but I hope that Juanita dumps his sorry butt and sues him for everything that he has.

I believe that this incident will be the catalyst for other women in ministry to finally face the pervasive misogynistic violence that is very much present within their own lives and the Christian church. Even though I am not a faithful supporter of Bynum’s ministry, I don’t believe any woman deserves the brutal treatment of physical, emotional or psychological violence. The brutality described in the attack leaves me to question how frequently this went on in her life. Pastoral and ministerial violence is as old as marriage it’s self and there needs to be more attention drawn to dealing and facing these problems without hiding behind the Bible but instead holding married couples accountable for their actions. I pray that she is real with her self and faces her issues without using the façade of a minister but confront the demons that lead to this assault so that healing can begin. She most definitely should pursue pressing charges to show men that positions and the good ole’ boy system used to acquit men of Week’s caliber will not supersede the justice demanded for respect of women.
