BET ‘09 Bizarre at Best
Okay,
I don’t deal in BET because those folks have issues. However, I was channel surfing and saw that they were going to honor Michael Jackson tonight.
So I decided to park there and check it out. I find myself flipping away from the channel every few seconds. Little Wayne? Huh? And Jamie Fox singing “Blame it on the Alcohol”? At a memorial for Michael Jackson?
Okay, so I flip back and why do I see an already over-exposed Beyonce (I’m TIRED of looking at her already! Take a vacation!) But anyway, why on earth is she singing Ave Maria while dressed in a bathing suit?
Time to move away from the ignorance onto something else. I’m not in the mood. Not tonight.

lynn: yes, there were a lot of bad moments, but Janet Jackson came and thanked everyone, her father was also in audience…Neyo and Maxwellwere phenomenal and Tyrese, Johnny Gil and Trey Songz (not sure who he is),but they did a great tribute to the Ojays and the Ojays performed….My heart is still sad…Everytime I hear “little Micheal” songs and they played snippets, still makes me cry…I must be menopausal because haven’t every been this emotional…I have been texting with my girlfriend who we went to see the Jackson 5 in 1974 in Huntsville, AL as 16 year olds…that is what we are mourning an era, of having black males that we could relate to and think about and put child hood crushes on and went through puberty with…Sad…will carry with me always…
Everybody’s crying, Oregon. It’s so sad. Wish there was something I could have said to convince him that he was beautiful. Not sure that he was reachable.
I saw Janet at the end. BET tried. I’ll give them that.
yes, I agree Lynn…I saw on the Biography channel yesterday from I think 2003 his brother Jermaine said he just wish Michael needed to be with him, so he could take care of him, that touched me so and showed their love for one another…I hear the family had been trying to intervene….As janet said, to the world he was an icon to them he is family…To me they were family. Well it goes to not believing black is beautiful and white is right. They were a gorgeous black family tall, lean, talented, pretty teeth, eyes, hair, etc, kind, respectful and humble all of them…just such a shame…I will continue to pray for them in these next weeks, months especially once the shock wears off….
I caught snippets and thought overall, this was the worst one yet. I was annoyed with Jamie Foxx shamelessly promoting himself and his album throughout the entire Michael Jackson tribute. I agree though that Janet’s remarks were classy and the highlight of that tribute. I don’t think anyone could have said it better.
One thing I will say for Jamie is that he kept it upbeat.
Overall, I did not enjoy the show.
