Baltimore Mayor, Sheila Dixon Indicted

I will never understand why it is that some people are so greedy. Baltimore’s mayor, Sheila Dixon has been indicted for the following allegations:

Accepting illegal gifts such as:

fur coats

shopping sprees

travel

gift cards intended for the poor

Clothes

electronics

etc., etc…

The State Prosecutor’s Office, which has been investigating corruption at City Hall for nearly three years, said Dixon received holiday gift cards for four years from several people. Prosecutors said the gift cards were to be distributed to needy families, but were instead used by Dixon to buy electronics — including an Xbox, a PlayStation 2 and a camcorder — clothes and other merchandise and also handed out to members of her staff.

“I am being unfairly accused,” Dixon said in a statement. “Time will prove that I have done nothing wrong, and I am confident that I will be found innocent of these charges.”

Um…Goodbye Ms. Dixon. It’s time for you to leave now. Folks don’t have the patience. Just leave, please. Whew!

I don’t understand why everyone always thinks they’re the one who won’t get caught. This is so stupid-to lose so much (integrity, good name, reputation, job, self-respect, dignity) for a fur coath, x-box and other stuff that the rest of us just work hard and pay for is beyond my comprehension…..pitiful…..

Why is it always OUR politicians caught up in this mess? It seems like it is always the ones who came from nothing and when they get elected to these positions, they suddenly don’t know how to act. They get a taste of being important and decide that they must have all the trimmings to surpass the Jones’.

And sadly, they often forget those who voted them in office and their most needly constituents are erased from their list of priorities.

Kid in the candy store or the fox guarding the hen house. Take your pick. They are morally and ethically bankrupt to lead our people. Getting ’stuff’ intended for the poor and needy.

Just like Kwame, she is going to drag this out. Based on her shopping sprees and the liberties that she took with those gift cards, is she a Zeta Phi Beta???

It is sad that it has come down to this. She seemed as if she were committed to the improvement of the city and yet ended up being swayed by greed in the end.

This toxic refuse doesn’t just stop at Mayor Dixon’s door. Prior to the mayor’s indictment, City Councilwoman Helen Holton and the mayor’s ex-boyfriend Ronald Lipscomb were also indicted on bribery and corruption charges. Unfortunately, there appears to be something rotten in Baltimore.
