Avoiding Halloween

By:  Lynn Green

Halloween season is upon us. My husband and I discourage children from coming to our home by keeping our lights out. In my neighborhood, children are not allowed to approach a house whose lights are out.

For those of you who are born again Christians, my hope is that you are not seeing Halloween as “cute” because there is nothing cute about an evil holiday that celebrates the darkness that is the devil himself.

GO HERE to read about Halloween and HERE to read a past article I wrote on the topic.

I do the same. I have a friend who lives in a high rise luxury building and they do a ‘sign up sheet’ every year.

Those who will be distributing candy simply sign up on the sign up sheet with just their apartment number and children are only allowed to ring the bells/knock on doors of those who are listed on the sign up sheet. I really like that idea for apartment buildings.

Amen Mama Lynn, one year I did a “Fact-based” bible study at my church after running into a Born-Again Christian couple I knew in a store shopping with their children for costumes. I was so disappointed. I’ve even had to “rebuke” my sister-in-law because she allowed her children to trick-r-treat(without dressing up) simply to, as she put it, “git dat free candy”, sad.

I even take issue with churches having the Harvest-type festivals on that nite to “replace” Halloween, because your still in a sense acknowlegding the day.

I don’t understand people who look at it is going out to get ‘free’ candy. To me you may as well stand on the corner and beg for some change.

And PARENTS this is also the time of year that the pedophiles are out in FULL FORCE looking for unattended children ringing their doorbells. They are well prepared with all the good candy and things that children think make Halloween fun (decorations, jack-o-lanterns, etc.).

Just be mindful that on this day, your adversary and your children’s adversary, the devil is walking around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Don’t let your children fall prey!

yeah Diva, she tripped me out, I just happened to stop by her house and the kids were all excited, I busted their bubble and rebuked her, I don’t know if she let them go but she herself is a PK(Preacher’s Kid) and should have known better.

whether or not a born again Christian celebrates Halloween is a Romans 14 issue…

I for one hate that it so celebrated in the public schools! It’s hard for my 5 yr old to understand why we don’t get dressed up in costumes and march around the block with the rest of them! I think if Christmas can no longer be celebrated, then neither can Halloween!

Romans 14 deals with matters of conscience…As Christians, there are beliefs that we should have in
common….salvation by grace, the Trinity etc…these are essential for salvation…but there are just some things that are not related to our salvation that we are not going to agree on…Romans 14 tells us how to deal with these issues…Paul uses the examples of the meat-eater vs the vegetable only eater and people who celebrate
certain holidays vs people who dont celebrate holidays…when Paul was talking about the meat eater vs the vegetable eater, he says “The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.”….the meat eater shouldnt be looking down on the vegetable eater and the vegetable eater shouldnt be judging the meat eater….God had already accepted them both…so if it wasnt an issue for God, it shouldnt be an issue for either one of them….when Paul talks about people who celebrate holidays vs those who dont celebrate holidays, he says that every man should be convinced in his own mind about whether or not to celebrate a certain holiday…Some Christians believe that Halloween is candy and costumes…others believe that its warlocks and witches….You’re fully convinced that Halloween is evil…I have no quarrel with that…this is your lil slice of cyberspace that you pay for….However, I do have a problem with the way you come across when it comes to other Christians who may allow their children to dress up, trick or treat etc…its almost like you’re trying to say they’re not as saved as you because they allow their kids to do it(allowing your children to celebrate satan etc)….in verse 4, Paul says “Who are you to judge the servant of another?”….you cant scream where scripture is silent….satan doesnt own any day of the week, month or year….

so wait a minute…i showed you scripture that proved my point about holidays being a matter of conscience…Paul spoke DIRECTLY to your issue…and you want to get huffy with me??…in fact, the meat/vegetable issue is directly related because the vegetable eater wouldnt eat the meat because it was offered to pagan gods before it was sold in the marketplace….you cant find a verse that allows homosexuality or anything else you named for that matter…

Whew..one day they gon learn bout coming up in here fooling wit Mama Lynn! lol

I wonder what DJenk’s is gonna do with the the Word that says “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me” Exodus 20:3

What he nor alot of Christians realize is that Halloween is a RELIGIOUS holiday, its a high day for satanist just as many Christians view Christmas or Easter. I don’t remember exactly how if first entered the commercial market but thanks to candy companies and costume makers, etc. it became commercial and accepted by the public, Christians and all. I recommend DJenk’s do some research on the “holiday” then tell me that Paul wouldn’t have rebuked anyone who participated in celebrating such a day.
