This is the type of stuff that makes Christians look crazy. Check out these Idaho folks who took it upon themselves to hop on a plane, fly to Haiti, and allegedly attempt to illegally take children out of that country. Sick, sick, sick:
Ten Americans who tried to take 33 Haitian children out of the country last week without the government’s consent have been charged with child abduction and criminal conspiracy, as Haitian officials sought to reassert judicial control after the Jan. 12 earthquake.
Haiti had better be cautious. The children are already traumatized. The last thing they need now is to have wolf in sheep’s clothing show up to further devastate them.

This woman convinced nine other people to go along with her craziness.
Have we lost the ability as a nation to distinguish between right and wrong?
Don’t be surprised when they are elevated to martyrdom! Someone made a comment in the Atlanta Journal today that the US should stop sending until the missionaries are released.
It never ceases to amaze me how these white americans think they could go into another country and exploit the situation there. Especially a black nation even as poor as Haiti. Haitians are routinely denied entrance into the U.S. I hope they throw the book at them. What is the fascination with adopting black children with these folks? Some of these people have unsavory motives for taking these children . These are missionaries? The God I serve does things in order. Like following the laws of the land, going through the proper channels. Did they actually think they were going to get away with this….and the parents of these children should never have been approached in this time of crisis…they would do anything for their children like most of us would, but they clearly weren’t thinking in their right minds. God help the Haitians.
Anderson Cooper has been on top of this story. I would really like to see this group of creeps do time. The female “leader” has serious money issues. I cannot help but wonder if she was planning to sell these children and for how much?
I was reading an article about this in the Wall Street Journal yesterday and they basically said that Laura Silsby, the ringleader in all of this mess was heavily debt ridden back in Idaho and her ‘personal shopper’ business had been recently closed.
She supposedly had some big dreams and plans of starting an orphanage, however, she had no money to even do that. I would love to know what possessed 9 other folks to blindly follow a debt ridden woman down to Haiti, who then according to reports on CNN, ‘trolled orphanages’ and even convinced parents to turn their kids over to her and her group. The majority of the children she tried to smuggle into the Dominican Republic were not orphans and were all under the age of 10. The speculation is that her group sought the younger children because they are easier to arrange adoptions for.
The kicker was the group’s attorney is now apparently willing to defend everyone, but Silsby because she was told- more than once- not to leave Haiti with any children and that she did not have proper authorization to do so and if she did, she would be arrested. She was reported arrested just 4 hours after a Consulate official told her not to leave Haiti with any children.
I really didn’t see God or anything Christ-like in her mission when I first heard of this story and the latest reports only solidify my initial feelings. How was she planning to care for and support all of these children, when she couldn’t even keep the lights on in her business back in Idaho?
I have to wonder if she didn’t see these children as her way out of debt and wasn’t somehow planning to bring them back here to the US and attempt to collect checks for keeping them – like some foster parents do. I’m glad the officials caught this though when they did because who knows where those kids would end up if they hadn’t?
Diva asked….” have to wonder if she didn’t see these children as her way out of debt…”
I wonder about that too, Diva!
