Like a child on Christmas morning, I woke up at 6:30 a.m. excited that America has blessed us with our FIRST black president.
In just a few hours that black man who has a Harvard education and who has given black boys a role model other than sports heroes—will walk up to the podium, give a speech, and do what many thought would never be done. He, with his black wife and black children by his side, will become the 44th president of the United States of America.
Don’t tell me God is not real!

As Black People in this country, we have earned the right to be proud JUST BECAUSE Barack Obama is a Black Man. This does not diminish our expectations and requirements of him as our president! Nonetheless, as I saw Barack walk Michelle to Cadillac One and then hold her hand as they entered St. John’s this morning, I thought of my father & grandfather who stood not too far away over 40 years ago at the March on Washington with placards in their hands that read, “I AM A MAN”! We have not overcome, but we’ve come…
I live in the DC area (but in Maryland) and I could have gone to the inauguration but my husband and I agreed that we would sit in the warmth of our home and enjoy this historic moment on television where we have close ups.
What a day….what a day!
Why was I just standing in front of my television blubbering like a fool while he was taking the oath??
Aretha’s performance didn’t do it for me by the way…
I couldn’t care less about the performances.
My concentration is on having a great black man in the White House for the first time.
Floating….
What a momentous, historic day! I am so blessed to have witnessed such a day! I am glad to be in the time when such a loving God would ordain and usher in such an awesome moment!
As he said “60 years ago, his father probably wouldn’t be served in a restaurant”….I am just so blessed to be here and to witness history in the making…My grandson who is 2, could also one day be President….I told him grandma is going to see Barack Obama, and he asks me is Barack Obama your friend Grandma and I said he is your friend and everyone’s friend…He also says in his two-year old voice when we ask him, who is Barack…He says he is the “Present”:) As our President says…It is time to put away “childest things”… I am glad he stood his ground and allowed Rick Warren to pray and he brought it home and said in Jesus name……..Let God Arise and all his enemies be scattered….
Wow……. It’s just sureal to think that back home in VA in the 60’s that when I went to town I had to sit on the back of the bus,sit in the balcony at the theater, and Woolworth’s at “that” counter and yes the colored water fountain. But God that our time has come.
I pray he seeks God in all of his decisions, and surely he and his family will certainly be in my prayers.
Now the work begins. May God be with him and give him strength to endure the constant challenges.
Deelove, I’m just glad it was cold outside so ‘retha would keep “her girls” under wraps(lol)cuz you know she’s been leaving the girls on display quite a bit lately….I too was impressed with the Prexy’s grace and character today-he was stately, gentlemanly and seemed to never forget to “take care of his wife” …looks like we are in good hands, with God’s guidance and help.
@ twtyprls… I thought I was the only one nervous about Reetha unleashing the gurlz! LOL. Glad it was cold enough for her to keep em covered.
twtyprls/divawidfevah: I was so glad it was cold outside too, because Ms. Re Re, would have fed the whole country….The best I have ever seen her…..It was so amazing and continues to let me know how real God is…Mary don’t you weep, Martha don’t you moan….Pharaoh’s army was drowned in the red sea…Has God forgotten his people; of course not…He is a God of justice and mercy and has chosen President Barack to lead for whatever purpose…I don’t know it yet, but it has inspired me to serve and put my God given talents to work…Lynn thanks again as always for putting your talents to work and inspiring so many….
This man has the respect of so many people all over the world. My cousin (who now lives in Brazil) told me that Brazil was at a stand still yesterday while President Obama was making the oath. When it was over, he said that the people down there cheered like he was their president. Now that is what I am talking about. Worldwide R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!
