Rush Limbaugh’s heart attack reflects his own errant behavior
Lynn | December 31, 2009 | 3:00 pm | Personal Responsibility | 1 Comment

I told you all that Rush was going to have a heart attack and/or stroke. Looks like prediction #1 has come to fruition. I await prediction #2. No human can carry within themselves the type of rage and hatred that this man carries against Barack Obama (for simply being black) and against other groups of people and remain healthy.
Prediction HERE

Limbaugh reported about eight years ago that he had lost most of his hearing, saying it was caused by an autoimmune inner-ear disease. He had surgery to have an electronic device placed in his skull to restore his hearing.
In 2006, he faced a single charge involving prescription fraud after a three-year investigation of drug use. Under a plea deal, the charge was dropped in return for Limbaugh continuing treatment.
Prosecutors began investigating Limbaugh in 2003 after The National Enquirer reported his housekeeper’s allegations that he had abused OxyContin and other painkillers. He soon took a five-week leave from his radio show to enter a rehabilitation program and acknowledged he had become addicted to pain medication. He blamed it on severe back pain.

What do Ivana Trump and Umar Abdulmutallab have in common?
Lynn | December 29, 2009 | 1:41 pm | Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My! | 1 Comment

So, what does Ivana and Umar have in common?

Not only are they both wealthy and born to privilege, they both have airplane issues. Ivana Trump, with her spoiled self, allegedly cursed out some children and was forced off of a plane.

I still have not figured out Umar Abdulmutallab’s issue. Black folks have enough problems. We don’t need to start acting nutty by becoming would-be terrorists. That typically is not our M.O……you know, blowing up planes and awaiting 77 “virgins” in the afterlife. That’s not our typical crime and let’s not add that on. We are dealing with enough, thank you.

These wealthy spoiled brats need to find something constructive to do with their time. Hey, give ME some of that money. I’ll find something to do with it.

Abdulmutallab’s parents had sent him to do a business degree in Dubai after he graduated from University College London in 2008. But he soon quit and found a new course in Yemen.
His millionaire banker father tried to bring him home and alerted US, Nigerian and Saudi authorities saying he was concerned about his son’s behaviour.

The family said it would continue to “fully co-operate” with international security officials and added: “We, along with the whole world, are thankful to almighty God that there were no lives lost in the incident. May God continue to protect us all. Amen.”

Percy Sutton, civil rights great, has passed away
Lynn | December 27, 2009 | 7:13 pm | General | 4 Comments

Percy Sutton, the pioneering civil rights attorney who represented Malcolm X before launching successful careers as a political power broker and media mogul, has died. He was 89.

This was not just anybody who died. Check this out:

The son of a former slave, Percy Sutton became a fixture on 125th Street in Harlem after moving to New York City following his service with the famed Tuskegee Airmen in World War II. His Harlem law office, founded in 1953, represented Malcolm X and the slain activist’s family for decades.

May God rest his soul.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Sunday that flags on city buildings would be lowered in Sutton’s honor.

Peculiar case of Zalman Silber, charges dropped
Lynn | December 23, 2009 | 7:09 pm | General | 9 Comments

The Zalman Silber case is indeed one of the strangest I have ever heard of. GO HERE to read Diva’s original reporting of this story.
According to a PR man who wrote to me, Mr. Silber has had all charges dismissed against him. I will await articles to appear in official newspapers but for now, I’m finding press releases. Odd. Just odd.

Mr. Silber, you are welcome to contact me if you would like for me to interview you regarding this issue.

Attorney Jacob Laufer who represented Mr. Silber released the following statement to the press:

“We are grateful that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has done the right thing in dismissing the remaining charges against Zalman Silber, and ending a year and a half nightmare for him. Mr. Silber has continuously maintained his innocence of these charges.
“The charges were instigated by his disgruntled ex-wife, and resulted in charges filed against him in Rockland County and in Manhattan. In Rockland County, the D.A. dismissed the charges in September. The District Attorney’s Office explained that it would not go forward with his ex-wife’s vicious accusations, because she was discredited as a witness after committing perjury and falsely testifying in a similar trial with Mr. Andrew Dale and her former husband Mr. Zalman Silber. That trial ended in a full dismissal due to the fact that the D.A. determined she was continuously lying under oath.
“The Manhattan case, which was brought, again, at Mr. Silber’s ex-wife’s instigation, relied upon ambiguous identifications by two out of four witnesses. The identifications — which drew heavily upon Mr. Silber’s appearance as an Orthodox Jew, an appearance that he shares with many thousands of other people — were obviously mistaken. One witness reported that the perpetrator had buck teeth, which Mr. Silber obviously did not have, and does not have. Another witness description of the perpetrator was of someone about 20 years older than Mr. Silber. In September, the Court in Manhattan determined that the District Attorney’s Office did not conduct a reasonably diligent investigation, which resulted in the dismissal of most of the Manhattan charges. The remaining charges in Manhattan have now thankfully been dismissed.

Victor Fuentes and the infamous 911 call
Lynn | December 19, 2009 | 9:11 pm | General | 5 Comments

LANGUAGE WARNING

There is much cursing on this 911 call but I want you all to see what the 911 people have to go through.  The young man in this call has obviously been drinking and I believe he got beat up.  Yet, he calls 911 to claim he “fell” and listen to his rudeness.  Our tax money at work!

Tina Knowles files for divorce
Lynn | December 18, 2009 | 8:06 pm | General | 6 Comments

KnowlesI really admire Ms. Knowles.  She has always remained classy and diplomatic.

Her husband, Matthew (Beyonce’s father) is another story.  He strikes me as a phony and a showoff.  I often wonder how decent women end up with such men in their lives.

You all probably heard the rumors of Mr. Knowles being sued for paternity?  In any event, Tina has filed for a divorce.  Good for her. Enough is more than enough:

RIP, Oral Roberts
Lynn | December 16, 2009 | 7:55 am | Obituaries | 1 Comment

OralRobertsI am so sorry but for some reason, I thought that Oral Roberts had passed away years ago.  Well he hadn’t.  God blessed him with over 90 years.  God is good, ya’ll.  May the spirit of Oral Roberts rest in peace with our Lord and Savior eternally:

Roberts died of complications from pneumonia in Newport Beach, Calif., according to his spokesman, A. Larry Ross. The evangelist was hospitalized after a fall on Saturday. He had survived two heart attacks in the 1990s and a broken hip in 2006.

Roberts was a pioneer on two fronts: He helped bring spirit-filled charismatic Christianity into the mainstream, and he took his trademark revivals to television, a new frontier for religion.

Roberts overcame tuberculosis at age 17, and he credited that triumph with leading him to become one of the country’s most famous ministers.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, he was controversial.  One of his most well known antics was when he had tied in a fundraising effort to his own mortality.  God is a forgiving God, though:

Tiger Woods loses first sponsor
Lynn | December 14, 2009 | 8:45 am | Personal Responsibility | 2 Comments

I knew that it would be a matter of time before Tiger Woods started losing sponsors.  No one (including his wife) knows who he is.  Perhaps his mistresses have seen the real him but he needs an Academy Award, as he had many fooled.  I would strongly urge white women as a whole to come out against him in complaint, as they were his targets.

Global consulting firm Accenture PLC has ended its relationship with Tiger Woods, marking the first major sponsor to cut ties altogether with the golfer since his alleged infidelities surfaced and he announced an indefinite leave from the sport to work on his marriage.

In its first statement since the Woods’ scandal erupted, Accenture said Sunday the golfer is “no longer the right representative” after the “circumstances of the last two weeks.” The move ends a six-year relationship during which the firm credited its “Go on, be a Tiger” campaign with boosting its image significantly. Accenture has used Woods to personify its claimed attributes of integrity and high performance.

“After careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising,” Accenture said, adding that “it wishes only the best for Tiger Woods and his family.”

Tempting sin by guest writer, Dean Smith
Lynn | December 12, 2009 | 5:41 pm | Scripture Illumination | 3 Comments

By Dean Smith

Loran Nordgren – a senior lecturer on management at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill – with his team of researchers released a study on how to escape greed and lust. The key is to avoid temptation. Though written from a secular perspective, Nordgren’s message proclaims Biblical truth.

In the Book of Proverbs, King Solomon warns concerning the adulteress:

“Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house.” Proverbs 5:8 NASV

Many believe avoiding such things as sexual sin involves exerting self control in the heat of the moment, but Solomon says it actually starts much earlier when one consciously decides not to go “near the door” of sin.

There is an aura surrounding sin called temptation and once we penetrate this invisible barrier, it latches on to our sinful nature. Our mind clouds and what seemed so incredibly wrong moments earlier is now all you desire.

The problem is many believe they can toy with sin – play along the edges – without actually being drawn into the act itself. Nordgren says this is where we make our first miscalculation – underestimating the tremendous power and draw of temptation.

In his news release, Nordgren describes it this way:

“People in a ‘cold state’ (not experiencing hunger, anger, sexual arousal, etc) tend to underestimate how a ‘hot’ impulsive state will influence their behaviour.”

Our second problem is we also tend to over-estimate our self control.

“People are not good at anticipating the power of their urges, and those who are the most confident about their self control are the most likely to give into temptation,” Nordgren says.

When studying a group who had quit smoking, Nordgren found those with the highest confidence level in their self control were the first ones drawn back to smoking after simply watching a movie on the subject.

Nordgren adds those who judge the failures of others also fall into this same category because the act of judging implies a belief one is beyond falling for a similar temptation.

Maybe this is what Jesus was referring to when He warned against judging saying, “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is your own eye?” Mathew 7:3. NASV

It seems the very belief we are not vulnerable is what makes us vulnerable and transforms a speck into a log. It is also this deluded sense of invincibility that allows us to draw close to the “door of sin” thinking we have the strength to pull away at the last moment.

Nordgren summed it up this way,

“The key is to avoid any situations where vices and other weaknesses thrive and, most importantly, for individuals to keep a humble view of their willpower.”

The prophet Jeremiah summed it up this way, “The heart is more deceitful that all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 NASV
