Update #25

Unless something drastic happens, this will be my last report on Juanita Bynum until her divorce is finalized. She has an article forthcoming in Essence Magazine and she has been on every major network sharing her story, so you all have had your fill of this saga, I am certain.

A few days ago, one of my readers, “TJ” sent me an article on Bynum. Because I’m tired of talking about her (this is my 25th blog about her!), I initially was not going to deal with the article at all because my goal is to bring that chapter to a close for good, save for the tomb stone article I will write once her divorce finalizes.

I had scanned the article three times, was planning to delete it, and then something caught my eye that caused me to pause.

So, will this forgiving trait help Bynum keep her flock?  Yes, say Butler and others. “Where else can you say that you were the church Jezebel,” marvels Butler, “and then recast yourself as a pure, holy single woman living a godly life, then all of a sudden you get married in a big elaborate wedding to a bishop, with 40 bridesmaids and then go off and have a ministry with that husband and tell other church couples, ‘This is how to love your husband because we got it right’?  and then your husband beats you up in the parking lot, and now you’re an advocate for domestic violence?” source

The line that caught my eye was, “will this forgiving trait help Bynum keep her flock?” The flock has been lost in all of this drama, haven’t they? Yet, those flock are God’s sheep and He has cautioned a “woe” to the shepherd that scatters the sheep. But this is not actually a religious blog per se, even though I am a born again Christian, so I rarely go deeply into scriptures here.

It is fair, however, to ask whether or not Juanita Bynum (and even Weeks) actually ever cared about the flock of her church? Or were they merely a means to an end for her? From what I have seen, the flock of her church have been pretty bruised. I will pause to say that early in the Bynum - Weeks fiasco, I banned much of her flock off of this blog because they were bringing a peculiar doctrine here that supported men beating women and I had to block that doctrine from this blog for obvious reasons.

Facts

a. A member of Weeks’ church told me that when Weeks moved to Georgia from Maryland, he promised his church he’d come back. That promise fell through and he pretty much abandoned his Maryland flock. Just left them out in the cold to fend for themselves and scatter to the wind. Would Jesus have left His sheep without shelter and abandoned? I think not!

b. We have learned that Weeks’ church in Georgia was so close to eviction for non-payment of the lease, that he was within days of a being put out; yet, I doubt that his church members had a clue. Now how does that show love for the flock? They could have been out of a church home and had to find out about it via the newspapers.

c. We discovered that, according to Weeks, she wanted to elicit funds from his church members—who had no idea at the time that they were separated. In fact, their last meeting was about the topic of her using the church flock to help her raise funds for one of her projects.

d. It can be reasonably assumed that Juanita Bynum was “first lady” of Weeks’ church, right? Yet, do you get the impression that she ever has even desired to write them a goodbye note or to send them any message of concern or care for their welfare? It feels like she has a total disassociation from them. They were fine to elicit money from, but there was no true love for them.

e. We also learned that during their separation, Juanita Bynum had told Bishop Weeks to stop using her name or likeness in the church. All of that was kept a secret from the flock. What type of respect did that show for them and WHY have they continued to tolerate the disrespect? Is it backwardness or ignorance on the flock’s part?

f. Bynum has her own followers aside from the church. It looked quite odd that she—a millionaire, had the nerve, audacity and sheer gall to ask for $200,000 for a so-called “threshing floor” when she can just as easily take her butt into a spare bedroom to pray. Or she can pray in her own bedroom since I’m certain she does not share it with anyone.

I would have been impressed and she would have looked sincere had she requested $200,000 to build a shelter for battered women! But no, she appears unable to think beyond herself. It’s all about self.

In her marriage, the fact that she was cautious to keep her name off of Weeks’ rented house and church (both of which he was almost evicted from)tells me that she is a very calculated woman who never fully bonded with him. It was all about “that’s yours” and “this is mine”. And while he was running up bills he could not afford to pay, she was holding fast to her assets—her huge lakefront property that she is buying (not renting)and her millions of dollars.

What is Bynum’s ultimate goal? Her goal is to uplift Bynum at the expense of anyone who steps in her pathway. And if they don’t move, they are going to be run over. Look at her pattern. She wanted a fairy tale wedding (not marriage but wedding). Well, she got her wish. She got her televised fairytale wedding to her glass prince. But we later discovered that he still owes Tiffany’s for the jewelry he purchased while trying to impress her! Not long after their wedding, she was flying all over the world like he did not exist. She basically resumed her single life. Apparently he was just there to supply the legal sex when she so desired.

Bynum said something in her No More Sheets video that I’ll never forget: “You still have residue on you from the streets”.

Yep. You were talking about yourself, Juanita. It’s just that at the time, no one knew. And after a decade, nothing has changed. Ms. Bynum, you still have residue on you from the streets. Pray it off, girl.

Remember the nuts who started attending the funerals   of dead soldiers about a year ago to bad mouth them, accuse them of being “fags” and tell their families they are now in hell? Well, those sickos are still active and coming to a town near you!

They are due to land here in Maryland to picket and spread their cult agenda in front of churches on October 6th and 7th and in DC on November 10th. It’s a good thing God is merciful. Otherwise, I’m certain He would have struck them all dead or with strokes by now. These wicked sickos have truly crossed the line.

          These people claim to be a church, but have you ever seen a church produce posters like THIS?

Apparently God hates everyone except the members of their tiny church that is attended solely, or at least primarily by their brainwashed family members. No one who is sane would spend five seconds in that cult.

   When a 17-year-old at the center of a civil rights controversy in a small Louisiana town left jail, he had a stranger to thank.

Dr. Stephen Ayers, who lives about 135 miles away, said he felt compelled to help the family of Mychal Bell by posting the teen’s bond and allowing him to go home for the first time in 10 months.

Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers.  Enough money has been raised that he was going to get out either way, but I am thankful for the doctor who put his money where most have only put thier mouths, and paid to get this young man out of jail.

I don’t believe that Mychal Bell is an angel. But I also don’t believe he’s the devil and he’s certainly not a throw-away. He has a life worth saving. Fights are never a good thing. I’m not happy that he beat the daylights out of his opponent, knocking him out cold. But by the same token, 10 months in jail is definitely more than enough in terms of justice.

All over the internet are articles cropping up by self hating blacks and indifferent whites who see no worth in the life of a black male teenager. They would like to see this boy rot in jail. It’s no big deal to them that all this strife started over a noose and that the white teens were never fully punished or dealt with. The blame for the fights were all placed on the black teenagers. What else is new?

Black troubled teens mean something to me. I’d like to see Mychal Bell be given the opportunity to go on to college and make something meaningful of his life.

Bell’s first night back at home was good, but “I don’t think he slept very much,” said Melissa Bell, his mother, in an interview Friday with Associated Press Television News.

The Bells are just trying to get through everyday routines now that the teen is back home, she said.

“We’re just sitting around the house, trying to wash my car for me … get something to eat, go get him new clothes. He outgrew his clothes,” she said.

“We still got a long ways to go,” she said.

Yes, this is not over yet. He is still going to need to go back to court to be tried as a juvenile, which is a joke since he has already completed 10 months in an adult environment. But again, black life has no worth in this country, especially black male life.

The teen is due back in court Tuesday for the first hearing in his juvenile case. Meanwhile, one of Bell’s lawyers said she told him to start looking for a new school and possibly a new place to live.

I’ve had to temporarily turn on the “registration” option.

This blog is now being bombarded with spam. Apparently as blogs gain more readership, they gain more spam.

My webmaster is in the process of installing spam protection software. Until that software is installed, registration will be enabled.

It literally takes seconds to register.

It’s good to be registered anyway because from time to time, I find that I have to turn on the registration function for various reasons. If and when that happens, you will not be affected or blocked out if you are registered.

This is a Public Service Announcement to my Philadelphia readers (and those who may visit the city):

It wasn’t a chicken processing plant. It was a garage behind a Philadelphia row home.

Inside, a barefoot worker could be seen cutting wings that might have been served up at your favorite restaurant.

It was hot. Flies were everywhere. NBC 10’s cameras spotted chicken dropped in the water on a sloppy floor. At one point, the wing was picked up and tossed back in the pile.

“He’s got blood in that water, plus the ice, and it’s just bacteria,” the deliveryman said.

They were chopped down into Buffalo wings, party wings, wingettes and the distributor resold them for a profit. Where? Maybe your neighborhood pizzeria, NBC 10’s Lu Ann Cahn reported.

And there’s more!

“He’s endangering people lives,” said the deliveryman, explaining why he came forward.

Oh, yes. That filthy mess was endangering lives and making folks ill. Check this out:

“I had the runs for three days, couldn’t keep nothing in my stomach,” said Tammy Scurry, who said she got sick after eating a six-piece “wing-ding platter” from Quaulity Pizza on Torresdale Avenue.

Are you about as disgusted as I am? This is CRIMINAL!

There is no way to prove that the wings made her sick. But on Aug. 30, the NBC 10 Investigators went undercover and saw boxes and boxes of chicken being loaded from the garage on Tabor Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia into the back of this un-refrigerated van.

I personally try to avoid eating at those little Mom & Pop type vendors. There is not enough regulation. But this story simply grosses me out at every possible level humanly available. Yuck. Gross. Ush.

When I look at the number of friends I have who are unmarried and many of whom cannot even find a date, I can’t help but scratch my head at people like Elizabeth Taylor who goes from man to man without missing a beat.

Yes, she’s beautiful. But the lady has been married eight times and is pushing 80.  Isn’t she about sick of men by now and visa versa? Apparently not!

Eight-times married Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor could be heading for yet another trip down the aisle as she declared her love for a wealthy businessman she met last year in Hawaii.

The veteran actress, 75, has ended months of speculation about her relationship with African-American businessman Jason Winters, who she described as “one of the most wonderful men I’ve ever known”.

I’ve been saying for years that a time would come when the “animal rights” advocates would try to have certain animals declared as humans. Here goes, ya’ll.

He’s now got a human name—Matthew Hiasl Pan—but he’s having trouble getting his day in court. Animal rights activists campaigning to get Pan, a 26-year-old chimpanzee, legally declared a person vowed Thursday to take their challenge to Austria’s Supreme Court after a lower court threw out their latest appeal.

A provincial judge in the city of Wiener Neustadt dismissed the case earlier this week, ruling that the Vienna-based Association Against Animal Factories had no legal standing to argue on the chimp’s behalf.

The association, which worries the shelter caring for the chimp might close, has been pressing to get Pan declared a “person” so a guardian can be appointed to look out for his interests and provide him with a home.

Group president Martin Balluch insists that Pan is “a being with interests” and accuses the Austrian judicial system of monkeying around.

“It is astounding how all the courts try to evade the question of personhood of a chimp as much as they can,” Balluch said.

A hearing date for the Supreme Court appeal was not immediately set.

The legal tussle began in February, when the animal shelter where Pan and another chimp, Rosi, have lived for 25 years filed for bankruptcy protection.

Activists want to ensure the apes don’t wind up homeless if the shelter closes. Both were captured as babies in Sierra Leone in 1982 and smuggled in a crate to Austria for use in pharmaceutical experiments. source

And I have another prediction. In our life time, we will see these freaky nut cases petitioning the courts for their right to “marry” various animals.  If the “genie” is ever let out of the bottle and apes are declared human, you will see all hell break loose.

I knew that there was something fishy about the fact that the prosecutor in the Jena Six case, Reed Walters, has suddenly performed an about-face and decided not to appeal the decision to try Mychal Bell as a juvenile.

Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said the department has been closely monitoring the case of six black high school teens arrested for beating a white classmate in Jena, La. He said the department also is investigating allegations of threats against the students and their families.

“Since these investigations are ongoing, the department cannot comment any further,” Roehrkasse said. source

     I’ve never read any of Anne Rice’s books but I’m quite familiar with her. I’ve always wondered why she obsessed over vampires. One of her most famous books is Interview With the Vampire and featured a vampire named, Lestat. She literally made millions of dollars from those vampire books.

Well, she has had a change of heart. Once an atheist whose late husband (also an atheist) would paint pictures of the devil and hang them around her home, she has returned to her Christian roots and vows to never write another vampire book:

“I will never write those kind of books again — never,” Rice said, referring to three decades of work that include bestsellers like “Interview with the Vampire” and other books in the Vampire Chronicles series. Her books about witches and dark angels, she said, “were reflections of a world that didn’t include redemption.”

“In 2002 I made up my mind that I would not write anything that wasn’t for Christ,” the former vampire queen explained. The title of her latest novel stakes out Rice’s new preoccupation. “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt” tells the story of a young Jesus from his point of view: a 7-year-old boy who is discovering his powers and his identity.

Hmmm….. I don’t know, everyone. Sounds strange to me.

The story of Jesus that she constructs includes some legends about miracles the boy performed. But she makes her tale consistent with the Gospel of Luke, forming an elaborate and imaginative addition based on a few lines describing Jesus’ childhood. “I took my cue from Luke,” she says. “I saw a great framework there.”

Rice’s Christ is the young son of Mary who journeys with his family from Alexandria, Egypt, where they fled after his birth, back to Nazareth. He observes the social ostracism of his mother, who people believe conceived her child before marriage. He also witnesses political unrest among Jews and imperial Roman harshness toward their Jewish subjects. Rice paints a picture of a young Christ who is both fully human and fully divine. She elegantly captures his growing awareness of who he is and the times in which he lives. source

My only hope is that she is not trading one dark passion for another. The bible is silent about Jesus’ childhood, with a few exceptions. We know that at 12 he was found in the temple teaching the teachers. We know that at one point he told his parents, who had been searching for him, “I must be about my Father’s business”. That’s all the bible chooses to share about His childhood. Yet, she is planning a series of books on his early life.

Her novel, Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana, is due to be published in March, 2008. I may or may not read it.

This just in from Al Sharpton. Mychal Bell has been granted $45,000 bail. Sharpton will try to get him out this evening.

Up to this point, he had been held without bail.  Other good news. The prosecutor will not appeal the decision to try Mychal Bell as a juvenile.

As you see, it DOES help to speak up. The bloggers, national media, and yes, Al and Jesse helped tremendously.

 Special thanks also to Michael Baisden and Warren Balentine who have stayed on top of this case, putting in many hours. But it’s not over, as Warren would say. We have just begun to fight!
